I don't have a lot of time, but I looked at it and it doesnt seem to be anything new. Here's like the first 3 paragraphs. I would do more, but I have to do something. Oh yeah, and my Spanish sucks, but I know a little. Some of my translation might be wrong. I am taking it right now in school, but I'm only in Spanish II.

The present is good/satisfactory. Johnny does not want to think about the future. "I am lucky enough to play in a competitive league," Said...

The history of Johnny Walker with the MetroStars of MLS and a selection for the USMNT is very particular?...????Don't know rest of paragraph...????

Born on September 13, 1974 in Torrance, California. He began his career with the Memphis Jackals of the USL in 1992 and 1993. He was a selection for the U17 and U20 national teams in 1996 and was eligible for the MLS draft and was drafted by the Dallas Burn where he spent time behind Mark Dodd.

It seems mostly info you can find anywhere in English, but I hope that helps a little.

THe history of Johnny Walker, current keeper for Metro and USMNT, is very particular if you analize the way his career came to life.

"Until the difinititive opprtunity in my life came", said Johnny.

"Fui a probarme a Chile en 1997. En ese momento me daban alojamiento y comida, nada más. Empecé en Huachipato donde estuve algo menos de dos años hasta que en 1999 pasé a la Universidad Católica", agregó.

"I went to tryout in CHile in 1997. At that time they just gave me a place to stay and some food, and nothing else. I started in Huachipato where I was the for about 2 years untill in 1999 I went to U Catolica", he added.

Joing the "Cross" team in the CHielan capital signified the jump he was looking for when he decided to a unknown country. He was champion with Catolica in 2002. "That was the most beautiful moment in my career", he said.

He went to Colo Colo early 2003, another of the big clubs in the South American country, where he played 6 months until he returned to the US and joined the Metrostars. The experience lived has been key in his career and he appreciates it imensly.

"Jugar en Chile me dio, por sobre todas las cosas, mucha personalidad, un peso dentro de la cancha que seguramente no hubiese logrado si no tomaba la decisión de ir. Jugar la Libertadores, ante 30 ó 40 mil personas te hace dar algo extra dentro del campo", comentó.

"Playing in Chile gave me, above other things, alot of personality, a sense of confidence on the pitch that I probably wouldnt have gotten if I had not taken the chance to go. Playing in Libertadores, in front of 30 or 40 thousand people gives you that extra push on the pitch." He commented

Ok someone else do the rest.....

    Midwest, the real one.
The most interesting news is at the end: Mexico is his most preferred destination to ply his trade.

Ok I did this translation b/c … hell, I was bored…it’s Friday and I have time till my next class……also good excuse to flex my eng-span brain….. I had no idea that Mr. Walker played in Libertadores… interesting…. You’re welcome.

If the present is very satisfactory, Jonny doesn’t stop to think of the future. “I’d like to be able to play in a league more competitive.” He says.

MIAMI – The history of Jonny walker, current goalkeeper of the MetroStars of MLS and the National team of US, is very peculiar if one analyzes the way his career gained relevance.

Born 13 September of 1974 in Torrance, CA – he took his first steps in the Memphis Jackals of the United Soccer League during 92’-93’. He was a member of the Sub-17 & Sub-20 up till 1996 when the Dallas Burn drafted him – where he was backup to starting goalkeeper Mark Dodd.

“Till I got there – it was definitely the great opportunity of my life,” said Jonny (kinda of awkwardly phrased quote??)

“I went to try out in Chile in 97’. During that time I had lodging, food, and nothing more. I started in Huachipato where I was a little under 2 years till 1999 where I [transferred?-switched?] to Universidad Catholica”, he added.

To join the club “Cruzado” [literally “THE cross”] in the Chilean capitol signified the [?goal/objective?] that he looked for the same moment in which he accepted to go to an unknown country. With Catholica he was champion of the Clausura [2nd 1/2 season] 2002. “It was the moment most marvelous of my career.” He admitted.

In the beginning of 2003 he moved to Colo Colo – one of the other greats of the South American country – where he played 6 months – before returning to the US to join the MetroStars. The experience he lived through was they key to his career and he will be eternally thankful.

“To play in Chile, gave me over many things, much personality, some [weight?/feeling?] on the pitch that I surely wouldn’t have achieved if I hadn’t taken the decision to go. To play in Libertadores, in front of 30-40,000 people forces one to give something extra on the field.” He commented.

“It was a super important step in my career. I am very thankful to Chile. It was a country that opened my doors when I was a nobody. I hope to some day to return everything they have given me. “ He added.

The present (teams) of Jonny Walker are the MetroStars on one side and the US national team on the other. To be able to arrive to the New York team is one of the other great [challenges] of his soccer career.

“There’s always pressure when one plays professionally. In NY it’s even stronger. It’s a city with much history in all the sports and we better be [?constant] with that. We better maintain winning in search of the title that MetroStars has yet to win for the moment.”

Meanwhile on the side of the national team the challenge should be hard considering he has the competition of goal-keepers with much prestige and experience in Kasey Keller, Brad Friedel and Tim Howard, all three of which are being triumphant in Europe.

“We have many great goal-keepers in this country. I am very happy to be able to compete with professionals of such huge stature. I should do all my work, in healthy competition. There’s only 2 years from now till the World Cup and anything can happen. The important thing is that coach Bruce Arena has faith in me and that gives me much strength.” He said.

Through qualifiers, I consider the team is going on the right path. “The important thing is to maintain the winning mentality and in that way face all opponents that cross our path.” He’s convinced of that with him they [US NATS] can count on and knowing very well that the rivals won’t be an easy task.

“Mexico is the hardest team. They have a great team, players who participate in a league that has a lot of pressure [?in terms of competition?] and that’s what makes them so strong. Other rivals that will complicate things are Honduras, the key will be to get good results in El Salvador, T n’ T, for example they aren’t favorites but they will be very [challenging rivals]” he said.

If the present is satisfactory, Jonny doesn’t stop to think of the future. “I’d like to be able to play in a more competitive league. I know that if they give me the opportunity I’d go immediately. I love to play under pressure, where every point is gold.”

And if it’s his preference, Mexico figures first on the list. “I always wanted to play in the Mexican league. I know that the doors aren’t closed and I expect one day [?they give them to me???].

(belated) Thanks for the translation, Saltenya94....I already speak Spanish, but this article does show why Walker has such great composure at both club and NT level....I wish a few more young Americans who can't find a place in MLS tried this route as well
