Damn those MSG camera's for getting a close-up of it ;)

He'll probably get at least a $500 fine, but will MLS suspend him for a match? With Clint already gone for USMNT duty, Wooley would have started with Magee upfront against KC. If it happens, it appears Guevara would be moved up, allowing Galvan and Lisi to start together at midfield.

I don't condone violence, but I applaud John for his retaliatory elbow on McCarty. Even on that play, sideline replays showed that McCarty was holding onto the back of his shirt as the elbow was thrown.
Within a 7 minute timeframe, McCarty could have seriously injured 2 different Metros. One was the Tim Howard clothesline, and second was the reckless tackle on Wolyniec.

Had a yellow been issued on the Howard play, the vicious tackle on Wooley wouldn't have occurred. Yes, taking the law into your own hands isn't usually the answer. However, when you consider MLS' past history on disciplinary measures (or lack thereof) such as the Diallo stomping on Ammann's ribs, Kovalenko's reckless slide onto a player's knees and the vicious and savage tackle by Stoichkov on a college kid in a meaningless exhibition, then Wolyniec's response was appropriate.

When McCarty finally got up, he looked like he just got knocked out by Mike Tyson. I don't think he'll be pulling this crap anytime soon. Rather than fine Wooley, I hope MLS will not allow this "ref" to officiate any other matches.

I admire that the "2003 Metros" are sticking up for each other. Martino laid out Digi in the first half and no foul was called. Seconds later, Lisi took out Martino in retaliation. Last year, Zach Thornton bulldozed over Faria on a 50/50 ball and stood over him wagging his finger and talking trash. Not a single teammate came over to respond.

I think the team has certainly gotten out the message that if you're going to pull any crap, there's a heavy price you're going to pay.

    Just ask Chad McCarty.

you know what? i applaud john for doing what he did cause mc-carthy asked for it; but my feelings about the substitution made to take magee out was horrible because although magee was missing so many dead goals, he did create chances and was part of some good one-touch passing plays with guevara and company

    Go Metros!

Getting hit with elbows and forearms are part of our game. He isn't a starter so big deal if any thing happens.

Wolyniec should be fined for it, since in the context of the play it was clearly more than "just a part of the game". I doubt he'll get suspended. And Nick should pay this fine, too.

    Would you approach Zach Thornton?

The stubsitution was not horrible. Woly played pretty well and almost knocked one in...just as much as Magee did in 90 minutes. Granted, Woly isn't the most graceful or skilled player out there, but that subsitution wasn't such a bad idea. He's big and makes no nonsense, hard runs; not a bad thing to have against a tiring defense in extra time.

He'd probably just try to make eye contact with Zach from the other side of the bar.

    Good for Woley!

McCarty's challenge on him was late and dangerous. Not to mention Wolyniec was on the sideline.

McCarty deserved a good 'bo right in the chops.

Maybe soemone should let Kovalenko have one for Mr. O'Brien.

Exactly. And the way Guevara several times this season and Galvan in his two games so far have ended up on the ground plenty of times, I don't have a hell of a lot of sympathy for some of the opposition.
