John Negroponte is Rubber, the Iraqi Ambassador to the UN is Glue

    The U.S. ambassador rejected charges by the majority of speakers that the U.S.-led campaign in Iraq was illegal and unilateral, saying Iraq brought the war on by not complying with U.N. resolutions that ended the first Gulf War (news - web sites) in 1991.

    I love this part. It is my favorite line. I don't know why they didn't advocate this position from the beginning. There repeated attempts to seek passage of a new resolution indicated their belief that they needed one.

    I don't know why I'm being fair to Negroponte, who's richly earned having to sit alone in the UN cafeteria. But the Iraqi ambassador did accuse the US of genocide, which isn't a charge I would expect a US ambassador to sit still for.
