You know what? I'm sick of the f-cking coaches and players saying lines like this: "I came here for one reason only, and that is to help this organization win a championship".

Well, gee that's really good to hear.

I hope this guy can back his sh-t up, cause it's getting old.

Murphy's the real deal - no bull*#*#*#*#*#, non nonsense solid coach.

Andrulis would be so lucky as to carry his clip-board.

Magpie or any other New England fan-

Is Kraft forcing coaches to take pay cuts or why are the assistants leaving for other assistant jobs?

As a friend of Murph's I can tell you that he wasn't asked to take a pay cut, but rather that he was already doing so much work for the money he was being paid, including endless college scouting, youth academy development and coaching, goalkeeper training and additional assistant coaching duties, that it would have been well nigh impossible for the Kraft's to ask more of him.

Murph is ambitious, and he didn't want to be perceived as the local guy. He wants to broaden his experience and perspective and move up the ladder.

He also though, seemingly incorrectly, that Matt Driver would always be Steve Nicol's number two and that opportunities for advancement were therefore limited.

Let me say this, both as a friend and an observer of John Murphy's career: You will not find a harder working coach in professional soccer. Period. Yes, he's affable (the players all like and respect him). Yes, he's a good judge of talent (Shalrie Joseph, Pat Noon, etc). Yes, he's good with goalkeepers (Adin Brown). But in a league that demands that coaches keep all the details in mind and rewards those who are well-prepared, Murph stands out as a top notch professional.

He will make a difference for your team. You are lucky to have him.

I think the common concensus is that advancement potential at Columbus Crew is pretty high.

There is a very nice interview on the Crew site done by someone from Revsnet where ya hear Murphy's thoughts on the Revs and the Crew.

Couple Things that may have been said before but still...

    - He remains a second assistant. He mentions how Warzycha is still the first assistant, but the move was still not "latteral" for Murphy because he has more time with the team here than he did in NE.

    - He thinks Buddle and Cunny can more than pick up the scraps after McBride's departure and liked the aquisition of Lagos, Wingert, and Marshall.

    - He has worked with Busch before. He thinks that Busch can lead this team back into the playoffs. Also, he mentions bringing in some young goalkeepers to try out.

    - He repeats the mantra of wanting to make CCS the worst place for the other 9 teams to come play in this league.

I just don't understand this allegiance to Warzycha. You've finally got a chance to put a proper coach in at number two and you don't do it. Warzycha should go back to shooting balls into row zed at his backyard.
