Maik Franz came from Frankfurt. Experienced Bundesliga player, should be a lock. Roman Hubnik, a Czech international. Andre Mijatovic, the team captain; a good BL2 player, he probably loses his spot to Franz. Sebastian Neumann, Germany U21 player. He's probably their 5th CB now.
Not to stir anything up, but if brooks is as good as it seems right now how committed to ussoccer do you think he is bshredder?
He's not as forceful as Chandler but for him it was more of a first-come-first-serve nature. But he's happy to be playing for the US team. http://www.yanks-abroad.com/get.php?mode=content&id=7774
We need to keep him comfortable...The fact that he turned down Bayern gives me more comfort that he'll play for the U.S. It seems as if playing for the U.S. is not becoming just an option for these young German-Americans but also a system they enjoy and can relate to with other GA's. Here's a look at our all German team ----------------Yelldell---------------- Chandler--D.Williams-Brooks-Morales --------Jones---------Hurzeler------- McCargo-----------------------Kiesewetter ----------Boyd------------George----
Just subscribing to this thread because I think he's definitely one to watch. Anyone offered a deal at age 18 by Bayern at least warrants some serious looks
I can't help but wonder if, for many of these German-Americans who are part black how much of them wanting to play for the US is just a chance to be around others like themselves. Growing up black in Germany you're a definite minority. Now suddenly they play for the US and there are both plenty of other black players and even a handful of other German-American black players and you're all of a sudden amongst familar company that playing for and in Germany rarely offers. I mean, I know there are likely soccer reasons and nationalistic reasons for wanting to play for the US as well, but I can't help but wonder if there's also a little more to it for these guys.
Uh oh. Here comes the threadjack about racism in Germany compared to the US. Anyone ever been to WV? If not, hang around 'cause we will be there in in about 30 posts...
Not really knowing if there is an ulterior motivation... I would venture to say it has more to do with being able to earn a spot on a WC team.. The competition in Germany is unreal and playing for the USA is a great chance for them to explore their US heritage.
It's either this or our white servicemen can't service. As later is highly doubtful you are probably right.
What was the reason for Thomas Dooley and David Wagner then? Well, except of never being called up for Germany, I mean.
There's an article out in German http://www.morgenpost.de/printarchi...lent-Brooks-traeumt-von-Klinsmanns-Anruf.html It says that Brooks is finally pain free from his Achilles Brooks "dreams of a Klinsmann callup." Brooks thinks Jurgen is going to do wonders for the game in the US Brooks' coach considers him a "huge talent." The article also touches on comparisons that are made between Brooks and Jerome Boateng. Both are "athletic, big, yet fast"
Can't wait to see this guy play. Never have before. He's definitely one to watch over the coming years. Hope to see him in London.
Based on all the good reports on him I wonder how far he is from a NT call-up, 2 years?. I know he's young but CB isn't currently one of our stronger areas
A NT call up prolly wouldnt be too far after his bundesliga debut but lets not jump the gun. Weve heard good things about him but we dont know when he will get 1st team action could be soon, maybe in the spring? I doubt it will be 2 years though. He has a squad number and when/if he debuts he will get called in.
