Well, there’s only one game on in my house this morning thanks to various starting lineups.

You have to figure, since he’s on a free, that he’s in the Barcelona cb3 conversation.

that said, he has played muuuuuuuch better the last half of the season and should have some decent options if he hasn’t already quietly signed somewhere.
Hopefully this trajectory maintains and he’s in good form come October/November.

Marseille may be interested in Brooks.

He’s under contract through June? Blech. Is Wolfsburg going to make him play in those weird German postseason friendlies?

Their first two friendlies look like they're both on July 2, so he's off the hook.

I suspect his locker was cleared out soon after the last Wolfsburg match and he won’t be very interested in putting himself at risk anyway until he is under contract with a new club.

I'm pretty sure that's a standard contract expiration date and there's no expectation of players going out of contract to be involved. That's exacerbated this year by an early start of the new season to accommodate the Winter WC.

I wonder if maybe transfer speculation is just less common for out of contract players. Like clubs and agents just have less of an incentive in leaking interest to drive up the transfer fee and or/meet the selling club's asking price.

No peep's to be heard. So weird.

My guess is like Hertha or Schalke.

    No idea.

My guess is JAB wants close to his former salary while possible suitors don‘t want to pay him anywhere near that.
It‘s a gamer wait and see.

Derek Rae tweeted a few weeks ago that Hoffenheim were interested and that his agent had some good connections with the club.

I imagine we'll find out soon as he will probably want to get in a solid pre-season to try and force his way onto the 26 for Qatar as well as acquit himself. He looked much better the back half of last season.

His physical decline makes him no longer EPL material but he’s still a solid Bundesliga CB with the right partner.

Whatever he is looking for was too much for Wolfsburg. Might take a little bit of time for this one to get sorted.

I have mixed feelings about Brooks. On the one hand, he is not super-quick. On the other hand, he passes well and is a good header, something valuable at both ends of the pitch. I think it is very likely that he will land at a good club.

    Nailed it.

Folks need to come terms with the fact that has always been the case. When left isolated without a quick partner, or good D mid he always had issues. Always.
With a mobile partner or a solid midfield shield he is a good piece to have.

It has always made him a player you think/want/should be a top top defender, but he has issues on a team that doesn‘t play to his strength and style. He is not a stand alone stand out.

Depends of what it means. Mid Ligue 1/ lower BL should be doable.

I have to disagree. He might make it and be useful at a club like Leeds, for example.

Have you seen Harry McGuire? If he can play at Man U, Brooks could play at a club like Leeds or CPalace.
