Got this on in the BG. Can't say I'm really gonna 'watch' it, but I'll check in time to time for max paperwork avoidance. 0-0 early rn.

Early change as Mbabu come on for Otavio who was injured (didn't see how)

This game has been sloppy as heck. lots of crap touches, missed traps. Almost feels like a preseason friendly. That said, Brooks hasn't had a lot of touches but has been fairly ok when he has.

So they didn’t end up selling LaCroix?

Weghorst scores. In the bits I've watched Brooks has been very tidy - good little toe-poke-tackle in the box just now. He's been playing more of a sweeper role this game. Last game I looked at he was more forward - stepping into an old school stopper role. Today he seems content to be the anchor.

AM equalize on a free kick after a dubious foul call (not Brooks). Brooks was marking someone else on the goal.

Wolfsburg defeated Preussen Munster of the Regionalliga West by a scoreline of 3-1 today after 120 minutes of play. Brooks played the entire match.

The bad news, however, is that Wolfsburg may be getting disqualified from the tournament for illegal substitutions in extra time.

For some odd reason, the DFB Pokal rules do not allow for an extra substituion in extra time (meaning a 6th in today's 5-sub rule). When Wolfsburg asked, they weren't told they couldn't have an extra sub, so they went ahead and did it.

That should be on the referees, then. They are the literal arbiters of the game.

Not the ref, but definitely the 4th official.

If Wolsburg can prove that they explicitly asked him whether the extra sub was or was not kosher, and didn't get a clear "no", then it seems bizarre to disqualify them.

Bochum getting a 4th minute red card indicates that today should be a relaxing day for Brooks.

Despite being up a man for the final 86 minutes of the match, Brooks and Wolfsburg only win by a 1-0 margin. Brooks played the entire match and earned an assist.

Brooks sticks a giraffe leg out in this one that leads to a PK (which was converted). He is such a good passer of the ball and money clearing balls w/ his head but his one-v-one skills can be pretty bad at times. Wolfsburg comes back to win this one.... Brooks played pretty well otherwise... but it is never a good thing to give up a PK like that.

Don't look now but VW have sole possession of 1st place in the Bund after 2 games. Stop the count!! (And SPVGG slipped out of relegation playoff territory... sorry Gio...)

could this have gone any better for Brooks and Wolfsburg???

GROUP G: Lille (France), Sevilla (Spain), FC Salzburg (Austria), Wolfsburg (Germany).

Lille are struggling and Salzburg, while good, aren't the same quality. 3 yanks in this group though. should be a fun watch. Predicting Sevilla and Wolfsburg to move on.

Not when the differential is 0! lol. Can't say the 2 VW wins have been awe-inspiring, but points is points.
