This is one of the best runs of form in his career. John Brooks on his A day is a very good CB who's great in the air, a strong long passer and can organize a back-four. On his off day -- things break down and his recovery speed isn't enough to bail him out of questionable decisions. It's great he re-solidified himself and locked back in as the starter at Wolfsburg. He's been banged up during USMNT callup scenarios on several occasions, but he genuinely has always seemed to love playing for the nats and I have appreciated him.
And at least a few of those are FBs as well, whose offensive contributions might inflate their rating somewhat. If you filter by just CBs he's ranked even higher
On Raphael Honigstein's podcast Chris Hatchard said that Brooks is having the best form of his career at this level.

hmm his CB partner is rated highly as well....what are his qualities? maybe that should be the model for his USMNT CB too?
Starts again. JAB having one of the most solid runs that I remember. He and Lacroix lead a backline that is rated just behind RBL in the BL. Hoping for another clean sheet today. On ESPN+ at 11:30 PST
Well... kind of jinxed it. After getting what I thought was a pretty soft yellow card early in the last game.... Brooks earns a yellow in this one and will have to serve a one-game suspension in the next one against... oddly enough... his former team... Hertha Berlin. Lacroix is also on 4 yellow cards so they really need him to get thru this match w/o one too.
Decent game from Brooks. Not his best... but solid... and one of the key reasons Wolfsburg has kept 7 clean sheets in a row! That is impressive.
Brooks and Wolfs are on such a crazy-good run. But they never seem to play when I'm able to watch. I saw way more of them last 2 seasons. Maybe that's a good thing!
I am pretty sure he will be suspended this weekend for getting his 5th yellow. Lacroix was also on 4 going into the last match... I think that was why he was subbed out in the latter stages of the game. Imagine if they had to play w/o Brooks and Lacroix?
Brooks is out today, but let's not call it a suspension. I prefer card accumulation. And while I'm here ...
🐺 @VfL_Wolfsburg have earned a seventh consecutive @Bundesliga_EN clean sheet⛔️ It's now the longest run of consecutive clean sheets in Europe's top five leagues this season, moving clear of Manchester City on six pic.twitter.com/hESVUWCDj9— WhoScored.com (@WhoScored) February 27, 2021
For anyone worried about Brooks getting to start next week - all zero of you - Pongracic, who replaced him, got a second yellow in the 94th minute and will himself be suspended.

Lost 2-1. I didn't get to see it, but it appears to have been an ill-mannered affair on the Wolfs' side with 3 YC and a RC. JAB went 90 uncarded.
