Nice! Crazy to think we have two 2004 center forwards playing in the Bundesliga that are barely even getting mentioned.
Hat trick for the reserves: Zu Hause nichts verlernt 🏠💪Die #WerderU23 besiegt den TuS Komet Arsten im ersten Heimspiel seit Februar zweistellig mit 12:0. Joel #Imasuen und Maik #Lukowicz glänzen mit einem Hattrick. #Werder pic.twitter.com/hqhj2Iko9f— SV Werder Bremen (@werderbremen) April 6, 2024

Hat trick for the reserves (so far): jeepers🧐 19 yr old 🇺🇸 Joel Imasuen needs to get out of Oberliga ASAP38 goals on the seasonmight pass 40 in this matchhttps://t.co/wB47phmKEN pic.twitter.com/juV9RvGymK— 🇺🇸 ⚽ east (@eastdeflection) May 7, 2024 Make that a 5-pack: update: 🇺🇸 Imasuen hits 40 goals for the season as Bremen II clinches promotion back to Regionalliga with a 14-0 thumping of FC Oberneuland pic.twitter.com/RyerH05VB6— 🇺🇸 ⚽ east (@eastdeflection) May 7, 2024
you would think 41 goals would make him the oberliga top scorer. But actually Lukowicz, a 29 from Poland also on Bremen, is the top scorer with 51.
When you outscore the opponents the way they have and are that much better than everyone else, this season has been a waste of time for everyone on Werder Bremen II. They played 29 games and have a +195 goal differential (Scoring 211 and allowing 16). There are 245 teams in the Oberliga. A Bundesliga team should not have a second team at that level. At worst, they should be in the Regionalliga, which is 96 teams EDIT: My mistake. The Regionalliga has 96 teams over 5 different leagues (so much less than half the Oberliga - which I incorrectly said). So its: 18 Bundesliga teams 18 2.Bundesliga teams 20 3.Liga teams 96 Regionalliga teams 245 Oberliga teams So the competition Imasuen has been facing is against teams ranked somewhere between 152-396 in Germany. My guess, is that the Bremen state league (which Bremen II plays in) in the Oberliga is on the lower side of the Oberligas. Scoring goals is always better than not scoring. But for me, I can tell very little about a player based on Oberliga stats - even if they're really good.
I remember Bremens team playing as high as the 3rd Bundesliga in recent years. Seeing them this low was kind of surprising. I wonder if they got this 29 year old guy, who’s scored a decent amount at a higher level, as a measure to try to almost ensure promotion for the second team.
