Damn, missed this one. Was between watching this or West Ham smashing Villa. Went with West Ham...

BMG about to kick off v. Mainz. If Gladbach win today they are, for the time being, in 5th place which is Europa league level.

Scally playing rwb in 343, they say, with Stindl going to the bench.

1-0 BMG. Keeper spills long shot and tapped in by Neuhaus (?). Scally not very involved so far.

Scally with some decent defending via shoulder charge in box to slow down danger.

Well, the ESPN+ halftime show of top 10 all-time Bundesliga keeper gaffes was better than the first half. Scally was ok in first half although not asked to do much at wingback.

BMG struggling to keep possession, including Scally. Mainz piling on the pressure right now.

Mainz unlucky not to score. Several near misses and saves made.

1-1 Great finish upper 90 by Mainz.. No Sally involvement. Not much involvement from him in this match. 77'

Loses ball then runs back and wins back by slide tackle and fires ball forward but not quite completed. He is more involved on left but plays as a right footer.

Pretty anonymous performance from Scally for what I saw. Lots of slipping and missed touches all over the pitch by BMG.

Finishes 1-1 and Scally goes 90'. I think the main thing for me is that physically he doesn't seem like 18. He wasn't heavily involved in this match for whatever reason. More when he moved to left but that was last 10 minutes.

His durability has proven a huge plus for him so far. Two of his mates (including Embolo...) went out with injuries in the first half

Our boy starting on the left and almost a goal...well he was in on the goalie and shook his man enough to get a shot off. He looks so comfy playing on the left. It's wild to see this guy playing at this level with such ease.

Scally back from int'l duty starts at lb v, Gruesome Furth,

Check out the dispossession at 20'. Sooo clean,

Shot on goal to near post upper 90 at 22'

BMG scored very early to go up 1-0. I can definitely see Pepi on this BMG team. Hoffman is scoring for fun on the right side and Pepi would be an idea set up man, slowly taking over from Stindl age 33. Hoffman would be quite the tutor.

BMG go up 2-0 after Gruesome Furth gk delivers the worst clearance I've seen from a GK this season.

34' Scally dispossessed but cleanly recovers the ball

35' Scally moves to center with ball and sends an accurate pass into plea (cam) who one touches to Stindl 1v1 on gk who shoots off the post. They say that would have been goal of the week. Not sure about that but it was some efficient play right there.

42' goal #3 for BMG, This is a slaughter. Great give and go Plea/stindl/pleas goal. I could see Pepi doing that.

Green off at half, Timothy Tillman on, keeping the us-eligible balance of power intact.

Scally subbed off in the 74th. Are they allowed to do that? Luca Netz comes in for him.

So aggressive, so controlled. You would at this point expect some glaring mistakes and other teams finding ways to exploit the 18 freaking year old newbie.

Not really. We overhype a lot. We hope against reason and what is going on playing wise a lot.

This kid has been something to behold. Lainer (spelling) is coming back, What happens to Scally? He played on the left ahead of much heralded German youth Netz, so that’s a great sign. He is gonna make things really hard for the coach.
    A joy to behold.
