The ref did not overreact on the second yellow. He is well known as one of the best in BL and can be strict. He saw that Dortmund were beginning to eff with Scally and as for the second yellow on Dahoud, the way he planted his leg meant his foul was intentional and not in any way intended to play the ball. Scalley is amazing imo. In the opinion of his coach, Scally has an amazing talent going into the tackle successfully without getting nasty. True. BMG should do fine this year and just have to concentrate on concentrating for 90 instead of 80.
Scally started against Brooks-less Wolfsburg (on the bench). Scally on the right. Saw he take a knock, but looks it was just a hard step on his foot he might have been milking to try to draw a yellow. Gladbach lead 2-1 as Embolo has a goal and an assist. Brooks' replacement got an early yellow.
Scally receives a pass on a big overlapping run, little dribbling moves to create some space, blasts a shot from just inside the corner of the box that forces a dangerous rebound. Last relevant play of the half. This announcer fawns over Scally. Wonder if Greggg has ESPN+.
I want to believe that Greg chose to let Scally stay with BMG during the break since he's still very young. All that being said, you could make arguments about other players that Greg brought in who are also young (e.g., Pepi) and then we would go down the rabbit hole of comparing all the MLS games Pepi played so far with the 6-7 games Scally has played albeit in the more highly regarded league. Scally will be with the Nats in this qualifying cycle and I venture to guess it will be in the next qualifying window. I may not be a big fan of Berhalter but I have to admit he has apparently done his homework and has reached out to all the possible candidates we have (reasonably speaking). Another poster in one of the US Men threads mentioned he is friends with the parents of an unnamed US Nats player and those friends/parents have told the poster the amount of variables that Greg and his staff take into account, and it is comprehensive.
It's possible that Gladbach, being very thin at Scally's two best positions due to injuries, really didn't want him to go and asked Berhalter not to call him. I think you're right that his time will come soon, and should, especially since he can back up both sides competently.
Scally switched to the left side after a couple of Gladbach subs. Also, Brooks came on at half for Wolfsburg.
That mysterious poster didn't say anything any national team manager doesn't have to consider when selecting a team. Prefacing the list with "I know someone relevant" doesn't elevate the value of the opinion or make any alleged inside info more credible.
Embolo continues to own this game. Draws a PK / second yellow on Lacroix, So Wolfsburg will now need to be creative, plus Stindl is lining up a PK to maybe make this 3-1.
Wow, DOGSO red card to Rousillon and Wolfsburg looks like they'll be down to 9. Potential save by VAR, though.
Roussillon ruled to have gotten a touch on the ball - half a size smaller shoe and he wouldn't have - and we're still 11 v 10.
Scally goal!!!!!! According to commentator…. 33rd Yank to score in the Bundesliga. Hmmm…. Now that’s a potential trivia question for the diehards.
Scally takes a ball to midfield from Sommer, heads it behind the defense, outruns everyone and calmly puts it away inside the near post.
Scally is making a believer out of me. well, I always believed in the kid having a place in our team.
