If he returns to MLS from England, would he be a good fit for the Metros? The Metros need forwards, especially one with experience, to complement Clint. JMM was a productive MLS player and, although he has not done much the last couple of years in England, at 31 he still should have a few good years left. He would have to accept playing second fiddle to Clint up front, or he could play attacking midfield. Also, I don't think he is worth max salary, but if he would accept around 150K, I think he would be a good addition. As a veteran who has been in the EPL for a few years, maybe he could even serve as a mentor of sorts to Clint. He won't take up a foreigner slot, he is a hard worker, and as far as I know is not a head case. I'll admit that I've been a fan of his since he put those two in against Jamaica last year to qualify us for the WC.
No. That's because he sucks. That's what Bradley came in to do. Ask Moyes. Quit livin' in the past man.
i think joe-max would be good with mathis, but why did this come up? has there been word from moore himself that he wants to go to MLS, by the way, dave scharan went to the fire
Sounds like it's a done deal that he's going to NE. http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/...fm?objectid=12323776&method=full&siteid=50061
I'm not sure why NE would have first shot at him - I assume they were compensated when he went to the EPL. If we could land JMM for approx 150k, I think it would be a good signing. Add a couple of young forwards, possibly Eski and Luchi Gonzalez (waiver draft) and we should have enough to work with up front. It would also allow us to use our SI slots on the midfield and a central defender.
FWIW, if it were up to JMM, he'd be playing in New England this spring, but it's not entirely up to him.
This is actually a brilliant suggestion! Gio has always been a fan favorite, having a reputation like the Cosmos that has only grown larger through the years. JMM has a great work rate and would create the opportunities for Gio to poach goals by the dozens. Furthermore, the move would allow NickS to unload Clint ("he cost us a playoff spot") Mathis and restore credibility with the vast majority of fans who seem to have found common ground with NickS and OZ in trumpeting Clint's massive failures and general uselessness as a Metro. The cap room saved by jettisoning Mathis would make everyone feel better about saving a spot for Marcelo Balboa on the roster at max salary.
HMMMMMM....I actually have to say that I think he should be on Metros. Should he start every game - hell no. Joe Max is not a high quality striker - which is what we need, but he is experienced, plays tough, and is an American player who won't take up a foreign slot. I personally would like to see Metros sign him but NOT trade someone to NE for him. NO WAY. IF we can sign him, great, if not, there are other talented players we can go after.
JMM prefers midfield to forward. JMM would certainly demand a $250k salary. JMM is not over the hill and would start on any team in MLS. Is JMM worth $250k? I doubt it.
Well now at least we have an explanation for the source of many of your opinions and predictions about Clint. ;-)
