http://www.mlsnet.com/content/03/ne0128jmm.html Didn't they need an allocation to sign him!? Or is this another case of MLS helping a team?
No they don't. Apparently he is in a draft and every other team passed on him. So basically the Revs got the rights to him for nothing.
Gentleman's agreement probably. So when Donadoni is ready to come back, hopefully New England doesn't shove it in our pooper.
The only way they can get him is if no one else picks him and because he make so much money looks like no one else will pick him, therefore JMM goes to revs.
I don't understand. Why not take him in this "draft" and then get NE to trade something (a draft pick, anything) for him? What's the downside? Similarly, could we not trade Andy Williams or Ross Paule for ANYTHING? If we sign them to new, lower contracts, then the point is moot. But how could we just cut them loose and get nothing for it? MLS makes my head hurt sometimes.
I'd rather have him over Moreno. They make about the same, and Moore doesn't take up a SI. Moore's still got some game, in MLS standards at least.
Joe Max Moore is not half the player that Jaime Moreno is, seriously. Not to mention, he's just as injury prone as Moreno. Jaime will prove all doubters wrong this year, playing with Clint, he'll finally have someone to play alongside who is not an incompetent like Abdul Thompson Conteh, Chris Albright or the outdated Roy Lassiter.
I believe (since everything is just a guess) that we would have to use our allocation to get him, therefore we passed. Same thing will happen when Heydude goes to the Crew.
