Very depressing, appoo! It sounds like one of those injuries that you just have to wait on, until it heals. Come on Achilles !! The worst part is him missing all the Champions League games after playing so well last season to get his team there.

Yeah this is very depressing. If I remember correctly haven't some achilles injuries ended the careers of some? I hope this isn't the case for JOB. I hope he gets well soon and this becomes a thing of the past and not a re-occuring thing year after year.

the injury bug seems to be hurting all the major yanks abroad. who's next? my guess is Lewis since he's already battled some light injuries and since he's playing well at the moment.

John O'Brien played his only European game at home, against Olympique Lyon. Of course, as he was watching Ajax' following Champions League games, he was thinking about the next one. "I watched the players whom I figured could be my direct opponents in the return leg. I kept thinking I would probably be back for the next game. I no longer do that. I won't make the Inter game."

Damn. I was looking forward to watching JOB in that game, as it looks like it will be on ESPN2

While I still think it depressing, I take heart from the fact that John O'Brien himself seems to confident of returning healthy and is not panicking. The boy has mad skills and he knows it. In my mind, he is still in line to become the US version of Roy Keane (without all the drama).

And on a comeplety non-soccer related note how because I am looking at another sports site at the same time how the hell is Ken Dorsey a favorite to win the heisman when he isn't even the best player on his team (Willis McGahee) nor the best QB in the country (Leftwhich, Palmer, Zach Mills)? OK maybe this does have something to do with soccer...like the World Soccer player of the year award. Or European player of the year.
