Joao Plata has is one of the candidates for this year's award. Voting is now taking place and it is at http://www.mlssoccer.com/latinodelano/2011
He has now made it to the quarterfinals of the voting contest. He is up against Sergio Miranda of the Columbus Crew. News out of Ecuador suggest that MLS will be buying his transfer in the next few days with his homeclub (Liga de Quito) retaining a percentage of the pass in case that he is transferred to another club outside of MLS in the future.
Really hope that is true, would of liked to known if there was a price agreed between LDU and MLS when the loan happen or they had to negotiate one at the end of the season as many believe that was the reason he dropped so low in the MLS draft.
It would seem that at this point the question about his transfer isn't "will here be here?" so much as it is "how much will his salary cost against the cap?" I don't think his salary will be that big of a deal, but any transfer fee counts as salary when it comes to cap hit.
