Well, good luck to JMM recovering and I hope that he does his best to work his way back into the lineup.

I think this could be a good thing, opening up a starting spot for some competition. We'll have to see how it goes.

I happen to agree with your implied sentiment, but he's a nice guy.

Ok so now the Revs are basically down to two strikers. Anyone know whats up with White? Does he basically want no part of MLS? As long as taylor and noonan stay healthy they should be fine but there must be someway of getting help. One would think that with LLAmosa being gone for the year and his status as a Nats player and elder stateman of the league, the revs would get some kind of compensation or dispensation to get a replacement. This team is in a very scary situation now...I hope help is on the way soon

As an aside, can we all agree that no one has to put an (R) when we're talking about Joe-Max's injury two days after the game?

    <sarcasm>Great news</sarcasm>

Maybe this spells a chance for Felix Brillant to see some minutes.

I'm not sure anyone who averages about a point per game can be labelled a waste of a paycheck... even if he doesn't play as much as I'd like.

At least we're getting SOMETHING out of him.

    We signed Brian McBride???

    Lovely.

Maybe next year this club will finally learn to get its chores done in the offseason.

Loyalty to veteran players is fine, but the bottom line is, if you snooze, you loose...

Well some people are more finicky than others regarding the R policy. I do agree though.

Well, if you take last week's lineup as a starting point, and put Cancela in for Moore, then I don't see there being a problem.

Who filled in last week for Cancela? Kind of hard to say given the formation changes that went on. But I think the 3 man back line supported by the wings is going to be the route forward.

Anyone who can play in midfield and support our attack deserves a shot in the next couple games.

    Prospective lineup (3-5-2):

Pierce Joseph and Heaps in the back,
Franchino Ralston Cancela Kamler and Dempsey or Baker in the middle,
    Noonan and Twellman up front.

I'd see Cancela and Ralston playing in offensive type midfield roles, with Kamler playing a more defensive posture. Dempsey/Franchino/Baker/whoever playing wing roles.

Is there a place left for JMM in that formation? He doesn't really belong on the wing, IMHO, but he'd be competing against Ralston and Cancela for a offensive midfield spot and Noonan and Twellman for a forward spot.

I don't think he has the speed to play the forward role anymore, so he's out for that just like the wing. Maybe he competes with Kamler at Dmid.

At this rate, the promotion on Sunday should be that 3 lucky fans will sign a 10 day MLS contract and be on the Bench for the game against the Galaxy. ;)

Didn't we sacrifice a goat to appease the Injury Gods a while ago? They shouldn't be this pissed off with us! :p

If this keeps up, we'll have to rename the Fort the 4077, because what we got for a team is a MASH Unit.

I'm not sure he's been signed yet--at least I've seen no announcement and he's not listed on any rosters that I've seen. Truth be told he seems to have shown when he's played in scrimages that he has the speed and skill to play at MLS level. JMM going down may be just what it takes to get him signed.

Could this be what it takes to get Jerry White signed? When they traded Chris Brown I was almost positive that it signaled that they were going to sign another forward and that it was surely going to be White. I've seen the delay in his signing as part of the Avery John quest. It will be interesting to see just who we do bring in.

The current crop of injuries has an up side. This is where players deep in the deth chart (if there is such a thing in MLS) get their chance to step up. SN has said repeatedly that every player on the roster is capable of playing. Well, heres their chance to show the coach that they rate consideration for more playing time. So far Clint Dempsey has stepped up and shown hinself to be ready for prime time. Dorman looked reasonably comfortable in his short stint against SJ and Luke Veracollone (sp?) has played professionally in the past.

Now it's up to SN to make a hearty stew from the leftovers he's got to work with. Such is the lot of a MLS coach with an MLS sized roster and MLS sized budget :(

    Loyalty vs usability.

You see this all the time. JMM has done so much for USA soccer, and the Revs, '96-'99. Rewards vs reality. (I'm afraid he was signed "moore" for his gate-drawing ability than anything else.)

What is the status of his contract as it stands now?

The sad fact is that EVERYONE on this board knew this was coming - even before last season's injury. He's one of my personal favorites...but you can stick a fork in him now.

His legs just can't keep up with his heart.

This pisser of this is that it's not suprising that JMM is injured. We knew that health was going to be a big issue for this team going into the season. Now I feel like we're just waiting for the other shoe to drop with TNT being next.

    I doubt it.

    My line-up without Joe-Max:

    GK: Brown
    RB: Heaps
    CB: Pierce
    CB: Joseph
    LB: Franchino
    RM: Ralston
    DM: Dempsey
    AM: Cancela
    LM: Kamler
    FW: Noonan
    FW: Twellman

Guys, that's not a bad line-up, although we are lacking in depth at forward at the moment. Brillant is listed on the roster at revolutionsoccer.net, but who knows exactly what his official status is. I think he'd be a good option off the bench, Vercollone might even provide some cover.

Just seems so much bad luck though. It sounds like Moore had a good pre-season and has not had fitness issues, and for all we know what happened on the turf down in the Meadowlands might not have happened had it been on real grass.

But leaves the bench looking like:

    1. Matt Reis
    2. Kyle Singer
    3. Daouda Kante
    4. Marshall Leonard
    5. Andy Dorman
    6. Richie Baker

    I am not amused!

Actually, I believe you can shorten that by one. Kyle Singer seems to be on a year-long loan to Syracuse.

Revs own his rights so whenever they need him they just need to call him.
