Pretty thorough explanation. We'll be sure and consult with you in the future.

i'll just throw this out. does anyone think that he might have gotten that card becuase the league is still reacting to the Histiro situation?

if the ref hadn't have blown so many other calls i might say yes, but i just figured id throw that out.

For our sakes, please don't ever ref a Metros game. I would be very sad.

you obviously didn't watch the game or see it in person, that was the weakest red card foul i have ever seen in my entire life...a horrible call by the official.

Bingo, I thought the same thing. I wouldn't at all be surprised if the suits at MLS HQ told their officials to be stricter in their enforcement of tackles from behind, even if marginally so.

Perhaps, but it was still a freaking horrendous call. A yellow, okay. But this was one of those over crackdowns you won't see after mid-May.

I don't think Joe's red card had anything to do with "Hristo" crackdown. There was no crackdown on Hristo. He was pacing the sidelines at the DC United/KC game Saturday night, yelling at the United players. If MLS was concerned about the impact of the Hristo incident, it should never have allowed him to show his ugly face on FSW.

I doubt it. If this was the case, then there is no way Marshall would've finished the season opener after delivering a dual-studs-up hit directly to the back of Paule's plant leg. That was a foul I actually thought should have been a red card.

I liked what SN had to say: "I thought we were still in South America".

Of course, I'm guessing he was actually thinking of Central America, but who cares.

JMM probably deserved a yellow. Not red. No way.

I would agree re. Joe Max getting a Stoichcard. The fact is that it is far easier to crack down on others when to confront the original perpatrator would make for an obscene blowup. No guts but sadly true methinks. Too bad for Joe Max, he is an honest, honest player. I can only hope the league will rescind his automatic suspension. He has been punished too much already.

    Brazil's in South America.

Speaking of which, I got very frustrated witht eh midfield for playing with the ball as opposed to passing it. Far too much temptation to the opposing middies.

If this is the case, would either MLS HQ or the refs bother to tell the players and coaches that they are cracking down on hard tackles?

IT was a poor tackle. It was not dangerous, there was no intent to injure. In fact, I don't think the Chigago guy even got hit that much.

I had a far bigger problem with that tall, red-headed hack, being allowed to crunch people from behind, even after he got a yellow card for doing it. His hits were far more dangerous then JMM's stupid slide an yet he was allowed to kepp doing it.

I guess they waited until after Marshall took out Paule in the first game to decide this...

Jim Curtain leads a charmed life in MLS. I have never seen a defender get so many no-calls for their consistently rough play, an dyet when they receive the same treatment, the ref blows the whistle everytime.

JMM is not a dirty player ...I did not see the tackle, but when I heard he was sent off, I knew that the ref blew it. What I saw of the match, the ref pretty much sucked.

Nor was there any intent to get the ball. Moore was going after Capano all the way. That's what I saw on the replay and that must be how the ref saw it as well. Intent to injure? Probably not. Intent to stop the play at any cost? Yes.

Regrettably, the League forgot to crack down on Stoichkov.

Just a correction, Justin Mapp was the player Moore was trying to get to, and Joe-Max WAS trying to make a play on the ball: Mapp just pushed the ball forward at the last second and Moore was already committed to his slide at that point... there wasn't even a great deal of contact on the foul.

But hey, everyone has an opinion.
