The latest Jimmy to Barca roomer is as follows...

According to reports in Spain, Barca are offering €9m, although Chelsea are said to want €12m.

    €9m = £5.92m

Should he stay or should he go?

Jimmy has been the most successful Chelsea striker in years, despite all the accusations of not being committed enough he still WAS scoring the goals.
Jimmy can really hit a ball sweetly, although he hasn't been doing that much of that these days.
Is it time for him to go?

It'd be foolish to sell him now

Wait until the summer, if sell him now and miss out on the CL then management should never hear the end of it. If he really wants to go and Barca really want him I don't see why they can't wait until the summer, he is cup-tied anyway. He'll still have a year or two left on his contarct at that point anyway.

And if anyone thinks we should bring in Fowler now that he turned down Man City, well then I don't have the words to describe how stupid you are. I hope Fergie comes in and wastes his money on the gimp.

its not broke, so why would you fix it

Coke head Fowler in the same side as Le Saux?
    It'll never happen.

anyone know anymore about the new sardinian at the bridge?

    Ummm....

Well, first off i can't see the point in selling Jimmy if we want to stay a power in the Premierleague.Fowler, or whomever may get the replacement nod be it Cole, Forssell etc etc, just aren't up to his level.
Jimmy has said all along that he has no more need to move for financial reasons as he is well off in that department and would only be willing to move to satisfy his desire for trophys.Well, in that case it would make more sense to stay put as Barca are having a real mare of a season compared to us.

I don't think we have to sell either or else he would have been off at the begining of the season.
Our loans are being met and although long term borrowing may be out as well as a shortage of cash on hand, it seems that we are (perhaps just) staying above water. The prospect of grabing one of those elusive 4 spots will only make the powers that be want to keep him even more.

Not to mention that if he was to go and Gudjohnsen got hurt we would really be up the creek.
So, all in all i can't see him going just yet...(watch, now that i've said that he'll be sold tomorrow :))

BTW...spare a though for this poor sod.

Please don't go. Please don't go.

JFH cannot go. He, along with Zola and possibly Gudjohnsen are our main Strikers. Zola and Hasselbaink will most likely departure Chelsea within the next couple of seasons (I hope im wrong), therefore, We would need to rely on Gudjohnsen, Forsell and Cole - That would leave us with an average Forward combination. By average, I don't think that's a bad thing, but we would currently be top three in the league for our Forward combination.

    P.S, BridgeMonkey,

How do you do the Euro sign? Is it just something you have on your keyboard, or do you have to press alt and a combination of numbers?

    You never know

    Indeed it was strange.
I think Leeds still want/need to sell regardless of his desire to play/not play for them.

It's hard to imagine, but they sem to be in a pretty dire financial situation.I would have though the sales to date would have brought the pressure to somewhat of an end.
We are (reportedly i'll admit) in worse shape than they are, although our revenue is better.

    As for Fowler...um...
To be quite honest i would take the Fowler for Hasselbaink exchange if he was going.Ideally i would like him to stay. However i think the pace and skill of Fowler would fit in quite well with our team. He's also English and i think Ranieri could do great things with him given time.

The only problem i can see is him having an "accident" in the dressing room and Le Saux grinning from ear to ear ;)

Well, Barca went down 4-2 today and that makes even a chance for the UEFA cup quite hard for them.Champs league footie now looks just about out of the question.

Van Gaal also may be looking for a new job soon given the fickle nature of their fans over there so that adds yet another interesting twist to the whole thing.
If he gets the boot will they still be interested in Jimmy.
Some say that Van Gaal is nothing more than a mouth piece for Gaspard and he will hold onto to him no matter what.

They are really in a crisis over there and are reported to have offered a 18 month deal which they say Jimmy will sign on Monday or very early next week.

    NO MOVE FOR JIMMY

Looks like the Jimmy and Eidur show can continue.

Great news for the squad.Perhaps now that this has been put to rest jimmy et all will concentrate on wining something with the club at hand, be it only a top 4 finish.

    Van Gaal sacked at Barca

so the Jimmy move is definitely off for now, and probably out of the picture in the summer as well since Van Gaal was the one who wanted him there. Strange how quick the situation can turn in 4 weeks.

Maybe we should start the English tabloids off on stories about us buying Riquelme or Saviola to distract Barca even further, maybe relegation wouldn't be that unimaginable for them. See how they like it when the shoe is on the other foot.

Now if Jimmy was to go

Now if Jimmy was to go at the end of this season, are there any players out there you'd like to see in a Chelsea shirt?

    Rooney? Owen?
    Surely not Fowler...

I hate to say this but I quite like Alan Smith (Leeds) as a player.

    I'd like to see

Forssell and Cole 100% healthy, backing up Gudjohnsen and rotating with Zola for the entire season. No need for more strikers.

Earmark the money to reducing the debt, and buying younger prospects that could eventually make an impact. A solid CM and RB would be where we should look to strengthen.

    Re: I'd like to see

    Sensible lad mst77 :)

Eidur, Mikael and Carlton are the future - 3 out and out strikers.

What I like about smudger is his usefulness, he was playing RM against us yesterday - So say IF Gronks wasn't performing, Smith could handle the RM role.
I think Smith would be a useful addition to the squad, although with him and Le Saux, we could easily get reduced to 9 men in a game.

    Ditch Stanic

RB? Melchiot needs some cover apart from Gallas for sure. What was odd last night is that - Gallas, Terry, Desailly, Le Saux - is still me fave back 4 - though had we had our settled back 4 we would have defended better.

CM? Agreed, Morris is good cover, but we still need another I reckon.
