Judging by his performance, I don't think there's any need to start the Curtin to United rumor. Other than being dominant in the air he didn't look too good. On another note though, the Washington Post is reporting that Ray Hudson is going after Polish National Team player Kucharski. Here's what the article says: What do you guys think of Kucharski? Sorry if this is a little off topic, but I figured this would be the place with the most insight. Thanks, -Tron
[joking] Jimmy Curtin played for D.C.??? This must mean the league wants him to play there to strengthen the hallmark franchise. It's a conspiracy, I tell ya [/joking]
hair'em scare'em jim "beef" curtins someone else had suggested that we look into bringing Kucharski here. especially now that we have an SI spot open.
First, it wasn't Kucharski that was mentioned. Second, we don't have an open SI slot. (If Hristo isn't re-signed, then we will.)
My mistake it was Marek Citko. They are both from Legia. I don't watch that much PolSat to know the difference. And I am under the assumption that Hristo isn't going to be playing for us next year.
Let me guess, Phil bought Phil a fruitpie to let Jim play. What would have happened if Jim had gotten injured (bad enough to sit out part of next season)while playing? would the Fire be compensated?
probably not. that's a risk the Fire took and I'm guessing San Jose took in allowing Agoos/Barrett to play for D.C. when they went to England.
Compensated for what? It's "Single Entity." MLS routinely sees players playing for other teams in friendlies and scrimmages. Heck, the Wizards used several "guest" MLS players in August for the friendly against Rochester. While the in-season game was a little unusual, many off-season games and tours see fill-in players. As far as injuries and compensation, I doubt it would be treated any different than if he'd been hurt playing for the Fire during an off-season friendly.
You should've seen the way the Burn fans reacted to the shots of Zarco wearing the DCU kit in last year's Unity Games.
Kucharski is very good. If you re-watch the Poland - US WC game, he ran that game. Unfortunately that was the only WC game the coach put him in. At Legia, he plays closer to a striker than a midfield spot. If you're intersted in Kucharski, see if you can get to watch the Legia - Schalke UEFA Cup game tomorrow. He should start as Legia's captain. To the best of my knowledge, though, he's under contract for a while yet, so DC would have to pay for him.
Can we just get it over with and start calling Jim "Harpo." Put a trenchcoat on the guy and give him a horn and he's a dead ringer. Well, except that he's two feet taller than the original.
He became my 5 year olds favorite player because he looks like big bird. It just turned out that he is a super nice guy too. Looks aren't everything.
Thanks. What was reported was that Kucharski is out of favor at Legia at the moment. As United is looking for Forwards, and he was classed as a midfielder, and in the WC game he seemed like a midfielder, I was a bit troubled by it. I'm glad to hear that he plays more like a forward, because creating isn't United's problem, it's finishing. Thanks for the insight. -Tron
