that's a great question and we can go in circles about this for the next two weeks..

on one hand, he made the 55-list...so what happens now? does he fly to Colombia for the next two weeks and prove his fitness is still there? i guess the question is - what has Duran been doing to keep in shape? do we really think he's been hitting the treadmill, weights and practice field hard the past 6+ months?

we know what he is capable of and the value it could bring as a super-sub. given the new rule with yellow cards, you could sit Duran the first game and play him in the 2nd and 3rd game and he can still get a yellow card in each game and still be cleared to play in the round of 32 - i think that's how it works, right?

on the other hand, we play in the lone striker formation, so where would he fit given LJS's likely starting #9 in game 1 and Cordoba's overall NT form (yes, he had that bad streak post copa america, but he turned it around for Bolivia/Venezuela and his club form can't be denied). plus there's Cucho as well who is on the fence but in good club form lately...and there's Mr. Congeniality aka Borre who likely sits in the front row at tacitical sessions with a notepad and refills the water cooler with ice and brings gluten-free empanadas to the locker room....

Maybe you put Duran in a room with a reformed Villa who can teach him to just shut up and play and to cut the drama with all these teams in a short period of time...

I think Duran (or his people) causes the problems. At this point, it’s not bad luck with his career.

11 games and 2 goals not a good track record for Russian league. Guy is competing against John Cordoba in the same league. Who is competing for the starting National team position (or bench behind Suarez).

I know he's better than that, but man a frustrating start to a career.

All of his family and friends and old coaches and mentors in Antioquia should have a heart-to-heart with him.
Get his head straight and tell him to behave.
All I am asking for is the next couple months. I am not expecting much more than that.
As long as he keeps Santos Borre off of the roster for this World Cup I will be ecstatic.
But will he be able to prove to Lorenzo he is worth it?????

yea... he is too fking good to leave off a 26 man roster I'm sorry guys. I'd drop Cordoba for Duran.

We need rotational players and then guys for the future. This dude ceiling is higher than James/Falcao/Diaz. He just needs to get bette mentorship.

He is totally not in playing form. I can't imagine how he makes the team.

funny to think the first two guys to show up for World Cup camp are James and Duran.

There is no justification to take Duran over Cordoba. Very little excuse to even take him over Borre. Duran doesn't have the history that James does to try and get the special treatment.

Maybe the excuse is that he is more accurate and better at scoring goals than Borre is.

Based on something he did 2 years ago? I don't know man, these guys that show no effort. Do you really trust them to score when we need it?

Duran is a good talent, he had a chance to get into the squad and had 6 months to show he can be professional and ready to play, he didn't do that and bringing him to the World Cup is probably bad for him long term. He couldn't do the minimum we shouldn't enable his slide, he's too volatile and we can't trust him and he's not in form anyways, leave him at home and hope missing the World Cup will help him wake up and get his career back on track.

It has been indicative their whole careers not just two years ago. Duran is better at shooting on target and scoring goals.

Just come to Cali bro, you can party as much as you want, rude motor cycles, get drunk, and play and yell at your coach.
We won’t pay you shit, but at least you can do what youre doing

He really reminds me of a young Talented basketball player years ago. I can't remember his name, but he was just as ridiculous and led to a mediocre career.

Just shows the greatness of Emery. He could even turn a winner out of the loser Durán. No other coach has been able to help him.
