He is also shooting consistently from distances that people just don't do regularly. His confidence in his technique is the difference. The all time high for Villa is six goals from outside the area (I think it was a long time defender Staunton that scored rebounds from outside the box), JJD just scored his fifth.
Nice praise from Emery for JJD: https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/unai-emery-lifts-lid-change-30584976
Their goalkeeper just ran into Jhon. He gets a yellow. His reputation is now such he has to be more careful, he really didn't deserve that one.
such a difficult game for him, Forest are a tough, physical, mean and nasty team. The entire first half had pretty much nothing happen for him. Morgan Rogers has been great, their biggest creative outlet through the middle. Emiliano Martinez had some incredible saves, that Duran header was spectacular, so cool the way he moves in that part of the field, some of his movements are similar to Falcao when he was young. his work rate is great, works harder than James has since 2016 there's no doubt about it, he needs to be colombia's starting forward, no questions asked. Vastly superior to anyone else in every way
Duran getting much better finishing in the air is just another tool he's refining and has elite ceiling. His athletic gifts are crazy and his technique at 21 is already very good, especially for a guy who was in MLS up until a year and a half ago. We need to can Cordoba asap and really lean into playing him more, the guy is looking like he's gonna be someone that can put us on his back at times.
the games today have been completely wild. Forest turned it around in the 93rd minute imagine Sean Dyche managing this team
Garbage results for "Colombian" teams this far. Let's see how Rayo plays against RM and how many minutes James will get. Are there any players left in RM from james days there? Modric? I guess Lucas Vasquez, don't know who else.
I feel sick after that end to the game for Villa, but Jhom Jader played well... But yikes that was awful in the last ten minutes.
glad you made the Falcao header reference. When af Porto he was scoring via headers non stop. Hope Duran can continue to evolve and turn into a real machine
Updating: 12 goals this season across club and country: 11 for Villa (5 goals in 5 starts, 6 as a sub in 18 appearances) 1 for Colombia Plus 2 removed by VAR in Champions that he had converted but other players were offside.
Am I the only one who finds it odd that none of his goals were nominated for the PUSKAS award this year? Unless the time period ended long piror? I thought November was the last month.
Generated 3 chances in the first 20 minutes of his start vs City and gets one goal on 18 minutes. Good way to cement himself as the starter, he's working hard so far. He's not fully there yet, but teams are gonna kill to have this type of 9 playing for them, he generates chances non stop when he's around goal and his finishing should keep progressing.
Duran scores to give Villa early goal vs. City. It's normal. 7 starts, 7 goals. (And another 6 as a sub!)
Just couldn't get the power he wanted on the first one to go in his worldie collection but he is really leading line and pivoting better today. Growing so fast.
