Id love to see Villa do a third kit with real Black Sabbath design like Ajax did with Bob Marley a few seasons ago!

Just watched the extended highlights. Jhon Jader played great - aside from the goal forced like three other good saves. Great that he keeps scoring whether given the opportunity to start or if he comes on as a sub.

That's 9 goals for club and country, plus the one VAR stole in the CL match with Young Boys. Outstanding when you consider the standard of competition he has been facing.

The extra games isn't ideal but I do like that it's a proper league now. Very cool

I am honestly not a fan; I found it more engaging when there were groups and you were checking to see who would advantage to the next round from said groups. This system into a large single group just doesn't feel right.

No it feels really good, before you knew certain teams would never run into each other. Now everyone plays everyone and the best teams make it through. Same as WCQ

I don’t think everyone will play everyone under this format. It’s not a full blown league

I take it back then. That's just bizarre. Like something the Americans would come up with

They did pots and everyone plays 2 teams from
Each pot and the teams with the highest points at the end go through

Obviously not, that would be like 30+ games, would take years to finish
Only 8 games first round. Looks really bad for Girona though. They got all these injuries not only yaser where they could've picked up more points. Now it's too late I think. There is no way they are going to recover their missed ponts against Liverpool and Milan. They had to get 3 points in all their easy games that was their only shot.

To be clear on the format:

    36 teams
4 pots of 9 teams based on rankings
each time faces 2 rivals from each pot (8 games).
top 8 teams by points advance directly to round of 16.
teams 9 to 24 play two matches (home and away) to find the other teams in round of 16
Direct elimination from then on, on home and away matches.

Girona can still sneak into the top 24, but they will need at least 6 points in their next 4 matches (beat sturm graz, maybe get a lucky win against their other rivals - they've been very unlucky this year).

immature view. It's not that you can't or shouldn't have confidence at 20. He's gifted and no one can take that away. It's the fact that you should take the time to learn, LISTEN and respect from others as you grow to be better. Because he wont be 20 yo forever and someone will eventually look at him as the "old one ".

Duran needs to watch some "Ip man" like old school movies and/or believe in therapy and learn that some humility will eventually add to greatness. One day he will be humbled like all pro athletes are eventually with injury and he'll need the support of everyone.

Sounds like he's so poorly counseled.

Well Zlatan never got humbled. In fact he only turned into a bigger and bigger a-hole the older he got. I actually liked him the best when he was young and played for ajax and scored that back heel goal vs Italy in the last minute. Later he became a total jerk, even insulting Sacchi on live TV.

Have we really seen any player change into someone more humble over time? Colombian or Foreign? Personality traits are difficult to change.

Ya I think it's a little bit of both. Having that alpha mentality and confidence is necessary for alot of the best strikers, you need to push the envelope. Also the arrogance of the young is universal, you just don't have all the wisdom and experience and it's difficult to manage and balance those traits. I think if he wasn't a well natured and playful guy it might be a little worse, but I think given he's young, learning and doesn't seem to be bad natured people give him grace but that will wear out if he doesn't refine and learn to be a bit more professional in his comments and actions.

Nah I'm with Duran we need more people like him. Too many wussies in colombia. Players too scared to even shoot the ball or score an open net goal. Humility is important but it's too extreme in colombia we need more people with balls

There are three things here: 1) it's awesome he has confidence and it translates into more shots on goal and with his technique more goals 2) He needs to continue work on his game (as he has been doing) so he can full extract his potential 3) He SHOULD be more careful on the field with fouls and indiscipline with refs - his infractions per minute as just as notable as his goal rate!

    4) it's a TEAM SPORT. You will not succeed to your max if your teammates don't want you to succeed, same for DT.

76th minute and still no Duran? They're still 0-0 and they don't want to give their super sub a chance? What are they doing???

Edit: As soon as I type it they FINALLY bring him out.

Aston Villa was robbed of a goal. Claiming a foul on the keeper but it looks barely than that. Draw 0-0.

Total BS call. It was a legit goal.

Villa are unfairly out of the top 8.

Came over to Birmingham for the game last night. Amazing atmosphere. Fans absolutely love Duran. Watched the players come off the bus and everyone was looking for him and he got one of the biggest cheers as he came through and the fans singing his song from the 60th minute on asking for him.

He seems totally oblivious that the fans are calling for him though which is interesting from watching him warm up while they sing.
