Bummer. Emery will def be confronting that...as will his teammates. Can't do that. I recall even a young Falcao (paragon of diplomacy) losing it and getting a straight red at River during his comeback after the ACL. It happens. It's important he learn now.
So basically he is acting like an Uruguayan instead of a Colombian. Good in some ways but mostly detrimental. Hopefully he grows up and does not get a bad reputation cause as we saw with someone like Morelos that can follow you everywhere and basically hinder your career. Or he can also become like a Cardona and never live up to any potential.
lol if he can learn uruguayan mentality im all for it, be a shithouse idc just make it work maybe he hangs out a lot with emi martinez
Just watched. I have to admit I was expecting so much worse. I disagree with Sugar's characterization that he's "a piece of crap", he behaved poorly but he is just a kid. - id read a lot of Colombian and Liverpool fans ridiculing two left footed shots he rocketed ... But Duran has massive confidence in that foot and it wouldn't surprise me to see him get a shot like that on frame. I remember the playoff game when the Lakers got eliminated in Kobe Bryant's rookie season - he came on later in garbage time of the game and threw up 2 or 3 airballs. He was just a kid and had skipped college ball altogether, but he had such belief in himself, he was gonna keep shooting no matter what because he was convinced he'd make the next one. Later I remember hearing the mystique that emerged around his "mamba" mentality, and I remembered those airballs as an 18 yr/o rookie. Some dudes are just wired that way and when the talent is there you want them shooting their shot. (From Twitter, I thought that he had passed up open teammates to take them too, but he was the furthest up the field each occasion). - The knee and nonsense with Gomez. Just seemed over eager and clumsy and he put on the tough guy face when Gomez reacted, but it really wasn't anything. - The thing that IS annoying is the constant gesturing at his teammates. The thing is that he does it ALL the time, and he must do it in training too. I'm surprised that Emery or Dibu haven't pulled him aside on it. The side seems to love him from the way they talk to him after games so it doesn't seem to be an issue yet - but they really should address it. At the end of the game, the cameras panned to a revealing moment with Guajiro and Duran. Duran looked like a kid telling his dad or older brother how frustrated he was. Lucho just smiled and seemed to be trying to calm him down. Given how much we will want the two of them to feature in the NT over the coming years it was a fascinating dynamic to get a glimpse of for a second. I really hope it started with Guajiro giving Duran a serious 'ponte serio!' or 'tranquilase!' but the cameras panned to them in midst of Duran lamenting to Diaz...
I wouldn’t say hes a piece of crap ..but he did act like a jerk in this game and he still has time to switch that attitude.
What a banger, also to be noted that Watkins has missed like 4 big chances this season which is a lot obviously. So things are looking good for Durans minutes.
Watkins overperformed last season happens in the PL every season with some random having a great season then going back down to earth
Brilliant goal and more importantly, he was fantastic when he came on. Forced a good save, won everything in the air and got back on defense earning the ball back to spark a few attacks to the cheer of the crowd. Then the wonder goal and sparked the come back win! They LOVE him at VP. WHAT A HIT FROM JHON DURAN! 🤯📺 @peacock pic.twitter.com/UprMwth5Fx— NBC Sports Soccer (@NBCSportsSoccer) September 16, 2023
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...redictable-target-man-aston-villa-unai-emery/ Really cool. Emery already talking about looking for ways to give JJD more starts. Expect he starts on Thursday in the UCL and then likely comes off bench the following Sunday though.
