He has really grown in mainz, i just would like him to get more consistent. If he did his numbers would really explode.

Yo la verdad no veo mucha evolución entre España y Alemania ...respecto a su poderío goleador por lo menos ...

Scored against Wolfsburg, his first in a while. His match last week was beastly even though he didn't score.

Vamos a tener que inventarle posicion nueva, este man de delantero, a menos de que mejore mucho su definición, creo que tarde o temprano lo van a mandar para China.

    Acá el gol.

Not many teams would stick with a striker through the cold steaks he's had. It's a testament to his game. Even if he isn't scoring, he helps the team out a bunch. The guy makes defenders do work.

Now if he could start finishing, he'd be a monster

It goes back to what I said about Duvan Zapata in the Transfer thread. Many teams in various leagues value physical attributes and target men up front who can hold up the ball.

A player who can hold the ball strong with his back toward goal seems to be a dying breed.
I blame it on the "false 9" fad.

But when that striker doesn't even guarantee 10 goals it doesn't matter how much he works for the team. I would only pay that amount of money for a goleador. He isn't Dirk Kuyt in sacrifice and work rate either.

Obviously the Market and teams within that market see value in other aspect of his game.

Cordoba is going to start today for FC Köln.
For those of us in the USA the match is on Fox Sports 1.

Things went pretty much as they've always gone for Cordoba today. He provided a key outlet for his team as they struggled to maintain possession with his pace, strength, and aerial ability. Very little support up front, pretty much fighting the defenders by himself.

During the last 20 minutes or so, Koln played a lot better and Cordoba probably should have done a little better on a headed chance.

An interesting stat: apparently Mainz only created 12 clear chances for Cordoba all of last season. Koln created 33 for their striker; hopefully that's a sign this is a better club.

He was a terror on counters and had a shot that went directly to the keeper he should have done better on. Had a few deflected away at the last second by defenders too.
He is what he is. A strong beast that just does not have the finesse to finish in the final third like other Colombian strikers.

However, they were praising him a lot on FS1. Not only in this game but the commentators also brought up an interesting stat about last season too.

They mentioned that he was the most fouled player in all of the Bundesliga last season.
94 FK's he earned for his team.
That is insane when you think of all the attacking players that get attention in that league. Shows that he knows how to keep the ball and make defenders use last resort type of tackles.

I think his skill set can be useful and it would be nice to see how he can play with a team that knows how to attack and keep the ball.
