Coach had said he was shifting him from second striker/forward to 8 after he liked what he did there against Yunai.
Arias only played in the 1st half against Everton before being subbed out for a tactical move. Andre (DM) for Arias. Wolves were down 0-1 at the end of the first half. game ended up 1-1... seems like the last 10 minutes of the game were a shit show. Everton lost 2 players to red cards
Wolves are def playing better but are so behind on points. they need to pick up whatever they can. the result was not bad but a victory against a 9 man everton would of been epic. 5 out of 9 points in the last 3 games
GOOOOLLLLLLLLL FOR JHON ARIAS! He scored the 2nd goal for Wolves today in the 3rd round of the Fa Cup against Shrewsbury Town! 🇨🇴💪https://t.co/CfDT58Mbgd— Colombian Fútbol Report 🇨🇴 (@ThreadsFutbol) January 10, 2026
ASSIST for Jhon Arias! He got a BEAUTIFUL assist to Larsen for his hat-trick an to give Wolves a 4-1 lead against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup! He has a goal and an assist today! 🇨🇴🔥https://t.co/RQlxbbXGcn— Colombian Fútbol Report 🇨🇴 (@ThreadsFutbol) January 10, 2026
Sad that his adventure in Europe was so short lived. Its just so lame that after waiting so many years to go he jumped at Wolves because they were the first to meet Fluminense's price...and then it turned out to be such a shit show there. I truly believe he could have succeeded at lots of top European teams and I wish Villa had signed him. For Wolves, incredible to make a profit on a guy you barely gave a chance to. Just shows how respected he is in Brasil.
it was always going to be a risk, what surprised me is how incredibly shit Wolves became out of nowhere. at the start of the season I knew he wasn't joining a top team but I was convinced they would at least be a solid lower/mid table side, turns out they became pretty much the worst team in England who knew if he were younger it would be perfectly fine but again the developmental issues in Colombia continue to screw with the majority of players, tons of people develop so late and it really takes away from their potential sadly. Europe is all about buying young to develop long term, its really lame
I don't think he failed at Wolves, I think Wolves failed and then he and them realized it was better to sell him and here we are. He wasn't amazing but he was getting his footing on a terrible team and how fast their season was over changed the whole situation for him and they prioritized other non sporting factors.
I wouldn't say he failed either But the team is so shit that its hard to view any positives I think its fine because he's going to a top team in brazil who i think is actually much better than shitty wolves Im confident he'll slot in seamlessly
i dont think anyone expected Wolves to go down so hard.. maybe their fans but from my end Wolves could be an okay team who's been in the EPL for a sec now.. disappointing as a EPL fan who likes to follow our players in the league
They made like 5M euro profit! He had a clause that Flu could buy him back for what they sold him...but Palmeiras blew that out of water and Flu couldn't match. His rep in Brasil is what it should be.
damn... Brazilians have so much fking money now.... hope he fully recovers he such a massive part of the NT
Imagine making a statement like that talking about the guy who was arguably the best player in South America and won everything just 1-2 years ago, and on top of that a super hard worker who plays multiple positions and defends like a dog.
we hope he does and quickly the WC is 4 months away our players need to talk to the coaches before going. this would happen to James a lot. The coach was like yea I don't want that guy
I think Abel Ferreira has a particular style, that's why he's bitching now that he didn't hand pick him kind of like when Juarez left Nacional because the board were hell bent on Uribe and he didn't want to etc Arias was literally a top 5 player in Brazil so im sure he'll come around
What I never understood with Arias at wolves (and it’s been a theme with the NT as well) is that in games where he would start, he would be the first player to get subbed out despite him being involved in critical plays that would lead to goal scoring opportunities. Not always generating the assist but the genesis of a big play often started with him winning a ball and making that first or second pass that preceded the assist / goal. And then things would fall apart after getting subbed out. Makes me wonder if the wearable fitness technology indicated that Arias was out of gas…bc from a tactical perspective I can’t think of any time where Colombia or Wolves played better after Arias being subbed out. Maybe i'm just watching a totally different game than others...i always found him one of the most valuable players (along with Rios) of this past cycle - Lucho and James are in their own category of course...but they could not have accomplished what they did without the engine of Arias/Rios this past cycle (in my eyes)...
