Has anyone else ordered a new Rapdis jersey from mlsnet.com? I ordered one a few weeks ago and I just learned they are on backorder until May. I think the league needs to get the merchandise in order or there are going to be a lot of unhappy fans at the start of the season. So has anyone actually received a jersey from mlsnet.com?

This is typical of Atletica. Word is the team isn't even close to having received as many jerseys as they need for the players themselves.

Then why is MLS still dealing with them, it's not like this is the only or first team in the league to use Atletica, so have the Revs and the Burn, couldn't MLS force a better delivery sched?

Atletica is the supplier of your kits too? Uh, never knew that. Although I like your new jerseys better than the kappa ones, why isn't the mls dealing with nike and adidas to make jerseys?

    Atletica?!?!

The other night, I was talking to a manager at Soccer Stop, and he said that Atletica was not very dependable, better than Kappa, but not good. He wondered why we weren't using Nike or Adidas, which would be cheaper and much more dependable. I don't know the answer to that unless the league got some deal from Atletica. Also, I spoke to the Rapids this last Thursday about this very problem, since I ordered one from the Rapids, and they said they would be in the mail this week, and I should get it before the home opener. Now I know that them saying it doesn't mean it will happen, but it is at least encouraging.
I really did enjoy Meet The Rapids today, and obviously, the jury is still out about Gilles. Even if he is here, it doesn't seem reasonable that he could be ready to play any time soon.

    Go Raps!!!!!

Well, I guess I shouldn't have trusted the Rapids who assured me that the jersey I ordered 5 weeks ago would be available by the opener. Opener tomorrow, no jersey yet, and no communication telling me when or why. So what else is new!?!

    Go Raps!!!!

Here are the 2 responses I got from the company distributing the jerseys. They I sent them on the same day to 2 different people inside the company.

All new MLS jerseys will not be in until 5/15/03. You will not be billed until we ship your order to you. Thank you for your patience and understanding

I apologize for the tardiness in your jersey. We are expecting the new jerseys in by the end of the month. The order has processed, but you will not be billed until the jersey ships out of our warehouse. Thank you for your patience.

Typical ass backwards dealings. Regardless of whose fault it is, it's punishing those who take the initiative to order early. Cripes.

Just thought I'd mention that my Jersey is in the mail so it looks like they got their supply thing worked out.

    replica versus real

I sent a chiding e-mail to the Raps yesterday, as I too was one who ordered my jersey early by calling the Rapids. After I talked to them today, and they told me they just received them, and were sending them out immediately, I began to wonder if the difference might be between the the less expensive replica jersey, and the actual official jersey itself. I didn't look close enough to tell, but I am wondering if those jerseys at the SJ match were replicas and not the real thing. MLS.Net sells the replicas for 29.95 and the authentic jersey for 69.95. I think that I read that the replicas were going to come out before the authentics. It would be nice for the Rapids if that was true instead of that they treated their best fans poorly by selling them at the first match before the first buyers received them.

Thought so too but the ones at the game were $55 or $59 or something like that.

Any place to try on Rapids jerseys in Denver, aside from the stadium.

Point of order regarding the stadium: I know that when you go to a game and buy a jersey from one of the concessionaires it is not the Rapids selling those, but Invesco Field. So I am sure those jerseys and the ones coming from the Rapids are 2 different sources.

Whoever said that the replica jerseys are available first I believe is also correct, and the "authentic" jerseys were to arrive in Denver later.

    Re: Jerseys in Denver

Both Soccer Stop (saw 1 at the store near me) and Holly's Soccer both carry Rapids jerseys. Look the 8-9 locations around the metro area up for the one nearest you and call ahead to make sure they have product.

    Re: replica versus real

The Rapids rep I spoke with earlier this week clarified some of this for me ... he mentioned that the replicas are mostly available now and, in fact, were what most of the Rapids staff were wearing at the game last week. He said they're also what's being given away to kids at the game on the 26th.

The jerseys being sold at the game did, in fact, come from a different source... it's just unfortunate that those vendors were able to get them before the front office could fulfill their pre-orders. They were $65 at the game and have a regular price of $69... if you have season tix, you save $10 and get it for $59 by using the front office.

You can also get the same discount on the replica, which has a completely different style than the authentic jerseys (aside from the colors being the same).

    Bueller? Bueller?

Anybody who ordered through the Rapids office have their jerseys (replica or authentic) yet? I wanted to be the first one on my block; now I just don't want to be the LAST one on my block.

I ordered mine the first day it was available. As of today, Tuesday, it still has not arrived. They told me Thursday that they were sending them out on Friday. They also told me I would get it by the San Jose Match. They must have meant the Oct.11 match against San Jose. Maybe Santa will bring it to me.

    Go Raps, Beat DC!!!

Actually, we can know now... yesterday's RapidFire had a link to this page, which shows the jerseys being given away at the game and refers to them as the replicas. Looks nice, but they're definitely not the authentic player jerseys:

I just received my official jersey yesterday and it is a nice one. The replica is not the same, just look at the picture on the mlsgear site. I am sure the material is different as well. Buy the official.
