Here's the details. Unless something changes this is the game plan: Noon Saturday - Meet at a pre-determined gate at CCS (either gate 9 north of autograph alley or gate 5 near the will-call window). Then we're gonna go in, unfold the flags, banners, jersey flag, and whatever else we have to unfold. I would like a few v-army people there (hippies are OK ) so that they can be in charge of all the v-army stuff. When that gets done (1 or 1:30ish), we're going to leave the stadium, tailgate, then meet in the north end around 3:45-3:50 to take places for unveiling. After the game, we're all gonna re-meet and pack the stuff up. I have some people who said they can meet early. I have a few other people who are "maybe" people. Scott DeBolt says he doesn't want people wandering in early. So I need names of people who can go in early to unfold. PM me if you wanna be on the list. This game is gonna be pretty damn close to a sellout, and on ABC Sports, so let's show the league why we're the best supporters in the league.
i volunteer my photographic abilities once again i'll make sure to get some jersey flag in action shots, too
...sweet..... so i'll add two hippies to the list. Will kerpow be venturing out with you guys as well?
hopefully! we've emailed back and forth about it - i hope he can make it out with us. the only problem is that we always stay for a couple of nights at my friends' place....so it's difficult to actually drive together. hopefully he'll be able to follow us out though! pm him and persuade him
Since my lady and I will be travelling in the hippie caravan to the game, I'm sure we can go in and help out as well. If you need real names, PM me and I'll hook you up with that info.
you will be with PM shortly.. yes, there'll most likely be a list of some sort, so I need names. and I have the following: 3 people (if they get there on time, they can help) 2 people (for sure) (not counting KK and KK's woman) 6 people (maybe, awaiting confirmation) 1 person that I haven't talked to. That makes 3stripe, hangthadj, KK, KK's woman, maybe kerpow in the v-army contingent... I don't wanna be responsible for v-army banners and all that. Thanks for the help, everyone... it'll pay off on Saturday
Since I have one of the banners, I can take whatever else there might be in with me and hang them up. Zak, do you have others that we'd want put up? Also, is it ok to bring beer in with me so I don't get behind schedule with my tailgate?
here's a bit more information... We're entering the stadium at gate 9 as a group, at noon. (near autograph alley and section 132 at the northwest side.) If I have your name, you get in. If not, you don't get in. Park where you would normally park, and walk around. I have more than enough people, which is very good. I still haven't asked one person if they can come, who I may not have to end up asking anyway. And is Zak gonna meet us at noon? Has anyone heard from him?
here's a review of what's going down (or up ) saturday, for those that need it... This should be old hat to most of you, but a refresher is hardly a bad thing. NOON Saturday: Kaiser Kraut, hangthadj, 3stripe, kk's girl, and a new guy (kerpow) will be some of the people going in early to set up flags and banners and all that. If anyone has any banners they'd like put up in advance, make sure either those guys or I have it. Due to security reasons beyond my control, if you're not on the list, you cannot get in at noon on Saturday. You'll need to wait for the gates to open, and enter with a ticket. After the northend is set up, everyone who prepared it will leave the stadium and join the tailgate. Around 3:45-3:50 or so, we need people to start gathering in the jersey flag sections (sections 136-138). Some people will need to take the flag at the bottom and "run" it up the aisles, other people need to stay at the bottom, and make sure it doesn't rip on the metal railing. Opposing team comes out with the refs (doesn't matter what order)... Then the music starts, and we get a camera shot of the Crew lined up in the tunnel. And all hell breaks loose. As soon as we get the music and camera shot, the flag is run up the stands. Flag goes all the way up to the last row of section 137. Everyone's encouraged to grab it and wave it and all that... Meanwhile, the team makes it's way to the far sideline, down the sideline and to the center stripe, preparing to run down the center stripe for introductions. By the time the team gets down to about the far side of the center stripe, we're usually yelling for the flag to come down... (it can get quite confusing underneath)... Once it starts coming down, everyone who can needs to help pull it down to the grass. It needs to be out of the way for the anthem and lineup. Then, it usually takes 5 or 6 people to run it under the north end. We put it on the gravel, near it's big blue box and leave it for after the game...usually about this time, lineups are well underway if not done. After the game, a few people need to stay back (it's a great way to beat traffic, and it can only take 10-15 minutes) to pack everything up. I would like a few v-army people to stay behind to pack up their banners. We'll try to keep the banner boxes out behind the goal, but at this point, I can't make any promises on that. A few of us (the more the merrier) will pack everything up, including the jersey flag. At that point, everyone is free to go. It's quite detailed, but quite simple. I've been doing since 99 and have it down to a science. And since I haven't heard anything about Zak, he's off the list, unless he gives me a really good reason why he needs to be on. (we're bordering on having a few too many people).
