If anyone is the dean of soccer writing in this country, it's Mr. Trecker. He's been covering the game for nearly 50 years and his reign is nearing an end.

Every Monday, he has a column on US and world soccer in the Hartford Courant. Most of the time that the US plays, he will have an extra column or two. In addition, he can be found covering the Revs on Sundays.

I'd like to take this time to ask everyone here to write him and his editor a thank-you. Thank Jerry for everything that he has done and that his work is cherished. Thank his editor for letting Jerry do what he does best, cover soccer (he also does NBA basketball).

He may be around 70 years old, but his material is still cutting edge.
