Where are you on the upcoming matches? Does anyone know when he will arrive as a USMNT player?

I would also like to add stop posting about Jermaine Jones unless you have new information on him. I to am very pumped about him going because he is a great player but talking about the same thing every day is tiring.

He'll only join the roster in October if he's actually showing that he's in form and past the injury, with his club team. Then, my guess is he trains with the team and Bradley determines how well he's fitting in. If he's working reasonable well with the guys, he dresses for a game and probably comes on as a sub (unless we've already clinched spot, then he might start his first game). If he impresses in first sub appearance, he might be ready to start next match, in place of Clark.

I think we've all given Jones a free pass here. He might be the most talented CM on the roster, but it still is the team's strongest and deepest position and he's going to have to work to prove that he's 1.) healthy 2.) fit 3.) in form 4.) fits with teammates/system.

I know it might sound crazy, but there is a slight chance that Jones never truly enters the competition for a spot. I doubt it will work out this way, but it's definitely possible.

That's what I'm afraid of. All this hype on Jones and he may never attempt to play for us. No word if he even sent paperwork in to get approve scares me a little. But hopefully everything works out. Good thing the central midfield is our deepest position.

    A few comments

Jones has already sent the paperwork into FIFA

Jones badly wants to play in a World Cup

Bob Bradley is anxious to get him into the USA fold.

There has been somewhat frequent contact between USSF and Jones

Jones is by far and away the best cm we will have on the team. however, i am guessing it will be michael b and jones in the middle eventhough they both play defensive midfield and playing two defensive midfielders would be a little conservative. but i don't think big bradley is going to sit little bradley for jones.

I understand all of this, but the timing of the injury, and the fact that he still hasn't played a game for his club yet, casts a bit of doubt on the situation. Don't forget, Bradley has committed to giving Jones a shot. That doesn't mean he's guaranteed to like the way he fits in with the team. The later he gets that shot, the more a poor first impression could hurt his chances for the 2010 World Cup.

Of course nothing is guaranteed to Jones. I am sure Jones doesn't expect anything to be guaranteed to him either.

Regarding his injury, he's actually ahead of schedule in his rehab. We have 2 more qualifiers left after this next round. Then there may be another fall friendly in November (we played Scotland in November 2005). There will be between 6-10 games in 2010 before the World Cup.

Jones will have plenty of chances

Michael Bradley is not a defensive midfield. Get it right.

With Jones in the fold, Bradley's dream of the uber-empty bucket will be complete. MB and Jones = 2 DM's starting in the WC 2010. Yes, MB has played further up the field for Herenveen, but is he really a true #10 that directs the offense?

Jones coming in would ideally take MB's spot as the "destroyer" in the team. Bradley loves the empty bucket (currently starring MB and Clark.) Clark sits and Jones comes in. I would love to see a destroyer and a true offensive mid that can hold possession (cough...Torres...cough) but I'm not holding my breath. Bradley tried a 4-3-3 in CR and had enough.

He's locked into a 4-4-2, Donovan and Dempsey are locked in as wingers, and Davies/Altidore/Ching are the forwards. The only question are the two central mids and one of them is MB. I don't think he can sit Jones, thus we'll see the bucket in SA.

Goal.com is reporting that jones might be headed to stugartt. Don't know how true it is. But stugartt did lose a midfielder this summer so it makes sense in their part. Not to sure it would be a good choice for him having to get to know two teams Quickly and recover from injury.

No doubt the Fed will schedule plenty of friendlies against the Latvias of world soccer before the WC. Jones needs to play in a Qualie, or there is going to be resentment from the regulars on the team.

I would be shocked if the USSF schedules crappy friendlies next year. I would bet good money that they are going to go back to getting good friendlies in World Cup years like they did in 2002 when they played teams like Italy and Holland.

Say what you want about Gulati, but he's scheduled good competition in friendlies this whole cycle. With the exception of camp cupcake games, in the USA's friendlies they have played the best teams from Brazil, Sweden, Argentina, England, Spain, etc.. not just watered down b-teams either.

As for the resentment, I doubt it. The USA players don't seem to be those type of players that would resent a Bundesliga starter getting on the roster. There has been a good number of USA players that have made World Cup rosters without being major parts of qualifying. There are 8 months between qualifying and the World Cup, everyone knows A LOT can change over that amount of time.

If Jones is healthy, he will make the October roster. If he's not, what can you do?
