I assume Magath is trying to send a message and that Jones, and the two other players will be back with the first team in fairly short order. And that he's desperate.

Technically, yes. His father was a US Army soldier from PR. But he was estranged from him for most of his life and grew up in Germany with his German mother.

Actually, I didn't think of it before, but his and Jones' situations are incredibly similar.

I just heard the voice of James Earl Jones in my head.

"Luke, I am your father..." .

yes you're right, though Magath and Jones are from different generations they share more or less the same story

by the way, there was another guy, a black guy, that was with Magath on the same Hamburg squad long timeago, also a american-german guy but I forgot his name

He looks like the lead singer of a merengue or salsa band.

Hartwig and Magath; the midfield core of a CL winner. Different caliber from Jones.
Just like Jones, he also got only very few caps. He had very tough competition in his days in central midfield; Matthäus, Stielike, Schuster, Bonhof, Magath, Hansi Müller, Briegel,...

Most German coaches don't. But Magath is the poster boy for "does not **** around".

He's known as "Qualix" Magath for a reason, as highlighted below.

No, it Brian Clough, played by Michael Sheen, from The Damned United. Great flick.
