Great goal on his debut, and he missed two chances to win as well.

although baros looked poor against man u he looked very comfortable with defoe and thats just after 1 training session, I think they could make a very good partnership. Shame about benji tho, he is stuck in limbo

The fee's being equal, I would rather have defoe, hes younger and english, but benji is a hard worker and he has won over the hearts of many of the fans with his work ethic, class and form on the field.

However the whole transfer has been a debacle, the final transfer fee now is 3.85 million pounds now, followed by another 3.9 mill after 75 games (in 25 game increments). Benji is nearly 30 he isnt going to play 75 games in 2.5 seasons (the length of the contract) so the club will never see the full 7.75 fee they have talked about. I think the club will most likely get just over 5 million for him which is a bad piece of business considering he is in the top 5 in league scoring

sucks to lose Benji but as with Matty and G.O.N you have to remove sentiment in order to move forward. The money we got for those 3 went into buying Defoe, Diarra, Diop and Johnson which to my mind is an improvement.

Diarra should be a good player for you guys. I stop short of saying "class" because he seems a bit immature.

Defoe is a great signing for both you and him.

I don't get the Baros signing though.

cos it was a loan that was free and Kanu is to slow, Nugent has been poor and other than Defoe we have no other strikers. Against Chelsea Barros was class - worked harder in that game than his whole Villa career :)

Baros was brought in before Defoe, and without Defoe in mind. He was signed to make sure we get at least someone in that position, and like chimey said he's a loan so it he doesnt play well we dont have to waste any further money on him.
