Background of him in Serbia to Denmark http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blackhistory2008/news/story?id=3220621
As he remembers it, "none [of the attackers] were able to catch up." With 10.6 times in the 100m, no one is going to catch that cat.
White probably learned how to run this fast at soccer training in the US, then his technique was polished in Serbia and France while he is now mainly getting some needed tactical lessons at top-flight level in Denmark ... .
The thought that speed can be taught. That's funny. My guess for him being that fast is that he's African American and comes from a family with decent speed. Just wait till more A.A's with more speed than that start playing soccer.
Well, it was a bit of a joke ... but the game is getting faster, so the need for very quick wingers is getting bigger in the Danish league... I dont think it is by chance that first Jeremiah White and then now also Lee Nguyen and Will John have moved to Denmark.. .
From what I have seen of him he has relatively poor touch. I haven't seen a lot, but enough to base an opinion on. He plays a little like Beasley a few years ago, minus the defensive tenacity. I am just not that impressed.
Jerry White needs to play like Lionel Messi more. I certainly hope he shines during the minutes he's given vs Mexico.
http://www.ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_5177348.html He won't be playing against Mexico. While he was obviously involved in Jan. camp and was held over for the build up to the Mexico game, ultimately he wasn't chosen for the 22-man squad. Sucks, the exposure to this game could of propelled him a little further in his quest to be a regular with the Nats. But from what Bradley said he impressed so I'm sure he will get other chances.
How did he look in the Sweden game, I never got to see that game, and was curious to how White played.
Very active and speedy. Decent touch and drew some fouls in his 9 minutes of play. I noticed he stayed very wide, didn't pinch in much, which I like because our wingers have a tendency come a little inside limiting our options on the outside. Hard to judge him another than that since he was on the pitch for a small amount of time. Definately warranted more looks based on the short time and the fact Bob mentioned his training ethic.
More accurate would be: Didn't make any impact, but it wasn't his fault as he only got a few touches in a few minutes. Who knows.
the fact that he's a black guy from a fast family. What's racist about that. Happens to be the truth about me and my family too.
