In their 2nd pre-season match on Fuen, AGF faced a mixed All-Star team of the best players from the (4th level) club's Svendborg fB, Tved, Tåsinge, Marstal and Thurø, calling themself Sydfyn United (Southern Fuen United). Besides the goal assisted by man-of-the-match Michael Lumb, Jeremiah White also got close to scoring a few goals in the first 12 minutes, but unfortunately he got injured and had to be replaced early in the second half.

    Sydfyn United v AGF 0-6 (0-2)
    0-1 Jeremiah White (30')
    0-2 Lars Pledrup (36')
    0-3 Ulrik Lindkvist (51')
    0-4 Razak Salifu (77')
    0-5 Anders Kure (83')
    0-6 Mike Tullberg (88')

    AGF lineup (4-4-2):

    ................................. Steffen Rasmussen (24)

    U. Lindkvist (26).. Ole Budtz (28).. Kim Madsen (28).. M. Lumb (19)

    Alex Valencia (27).. J. Lucena (27).. K. Árnason (24).. L. Pleidrup (25)

    ................. Jeremiah White (25)... Peter Graulund (30)

    Subs:
White / Abdul Razak Salifu (51')
    Valencia / Cheihk Sarr (61')
    Graulund / Mike Tullberg (66')
    Lindkvist / Svenne Poulsen (66')
    Árnason / Anders Kure (79')

What does the word tahyler mean? "On the edge of the field he found Jeremiah White, who could make it to 1-0 with a true tahyler."

Tå = toe, Hyler = whiner, it is Danish slang for kicking the ball with your toes

A quote by coach Pedersen in todays newspaper :

-"He twisted his knee in a tackle, and he is doubtful for the match against Horsens" Ove Pedersen said after the fight yesterday.
    ---

I think it was only a small twist or more like a knock on the knee, because White himself think that he will be fit and ready for the Horsens fight.

    AGF summer transfers so far:

    IN:
27-yo right winger, Alex Valencia, Norway, 5 caps (IK Start, fee $500k)
29-yo central defender/right back, Kim Madsen (Hansa Rostock, free transfer)
27-yo Central midfielder, Jerry Lucena, Danish League NT, 2 caps (Contract expired, Esbjerg)
    26-yo left/right back/midfielder, Ulrik Lindkvist (FC Midtjylland, fee $50k)
31-yo goalkeeper, Henrik Bundgaard (back from loan to AC Horsens)
21-yo forward, Anders Kaagh (back from loan to Mandalskameraterne, Norway)

35-yo Assistent coach, Peter Sand, League NT: 2 caps, 1 goal (own ranks)

    Youth Academy:
16-yo goalkeeper, Esben Højmark, Den U16 NT (3-year contract)

    OUT:
33-yo central defender, Jacob Rasmussen (retired)
    ---

In compare with the other Superliga teams, AGF have done more than well on the transfer marked and not lost any important first-team players.

As for a comparison with the other newly promoted side Lyngby BK, then they have lost their highly talented U21 NT right winger Tobias Mikkelsen to Brøndby, while only signing the experienced central defender Rasmus Marvits from Superliga rivals AC Horsens, a young Faroese international (1 cap) from the Danish 2nd level team Fremad Amager and a 21-yo right winger/forward from the other 2nd level team Hellerup IK. So as expected, Lyngby have not really been able to attract/afford players with real top flight experince.

AGF are btw still looking for a tall strong looking target man.

Yes, AC Horsens is the season opener..

    http://www.bolddk.com/statistik/tabel.php?liga=1&saeson=42&program=fuldt#kampprogram

... and hopefully AGF will beat them at home...

Horsens are usually a solid home team but not at all impressive away from home. In this transfer window they have lost 11 players, most notable the Ghana International (51 caps) Charles Akonnor , Canadian international (11 caps, 4 goals) Ali Gerba and as written Rasmus Marvits to Lyngby, while only signing five reinforcements mainly from Danish 2nd level teams and then the young unproven German right/left back/midfielder, Steffen Lauser from Hamburger SV, so they are one of the big favorites to a relegation spot, just like Lyngby.

Here, we'd call it a "toe poke".

But it's interesting to see Jerry at forward these days.

Is he playing off a big striker (Peter Sand's fully retired now?) or a similar type?

Sand is not fully retired, though Coach Pedersen say that he's not going to use Sand unless he is forced to do so by injuries in the squad.

AGF is still looking for a big strong looking target man. If they do find one, then I think White is going to play in left wing position.

Jeremiah White has not been able to participate at the training sessions the past 4 days, so I dont think he's going to be ready for the season opener against AC Horsens :( ...

Pre-season match, Essex Park, Randers :

    Randers FC v AGF 1-1 (1-0)
    1-0 Bedi Buval (8’)
1-1 Peter Graulund (72’) (assist Kári Árnason)
    Attendance: 2,300

    AGF lineup (4-4-2):

    ................................. Steffen Rasmussen (24)

    U. Lindkvist (26).. Ole Budtz (28).. Kim Madsen (28).. M. Lumb (19)

    Alex Valencia (27).. J. Lucena (27).. K. Árnason (24).. L. Pleidrup (25)

    ................. Mike Tullberg (21)... Peter Graulund (30)

    Subs:
    Valencia / CJens Gjesing (58')
Mike Tullberg / Abdul Razak Salifu (65')
Kim Madsen / Anders Kure (75')
    ---

    Randers FC (4-4-2)
Kevin Stuhr Ellegaard – Søren Pedersen (46: Søren Holdgaard), Ralf Pedersen, Issah Ahmed, Jan Frederiksen – Alex Da Silva (53: Jeppe Brandrup), Tidiane Sane (84: Jonas Damborg), Kenneth Møller Pedersen (46: Stig Tøfting), Carsten Fredgaard (83: Michael Roloff) – Søren Ulrik Vestergaard (53: Thomas Dalgaard), Bedi Buval (71: Fabinho)
    .

AGF had around 60% of the ball posession, but it was Randers creating the big opportunities in the first 45 minutes through some quick counter attacking and especially their newly signed French forward Bedi Buval looked sharp. In the 2nd half AGF not only dominated the play in midfield, but also looked much more sharp and on target in attack than their opponents. In the last 30 minutes of the match AGF had around 70% posession of the ball and physically seemed to be in better shape than the home team. Jeremiah White is still injured and did not get to play.

Jeremiah White has been picked for the AGF squad to play against AC Horsens, so it seem that he is fit and ready to get his Superliga debut today :)

It looks like ESPN Soccernet is covering the Danish SAS Ligaen in their live scores now.

    That's pretty cool.

Looks like JW went 90 in a 2-1 loss, but hit the post several times. I was counting on 3 points. What happened Ceres?

AGF was dominating and playing some nice short passing, but lacked some sharpness in attack, while Horsens as usual did nothing much but take advantage of the few AGF mistakes and produce a few counterattacks... It's typical Horsens and a warning to AGF that they may be able to dominate in midfield, but need to be sharper in defense and attack in the Superliga, otherwise you lose..

    Superliga, round 1 :

    AGF v AC Horsens 1-2 (1-0)
1-0 Peter Graulund (24') assist Jeremiah White
    1-1 Gilberto Macena (52')
    1-2 Niels Lodberg (68')
    Attendance: 12,562

    AGF lineup (4-4-2):

    ................................. Steffen Rasmussen (24)

    U. Lindkvist (26).. Ole Budtz (28).. Kim Madsen (28).. M. Lumb (19)

    Alex Valencia (27).. J. Lucena (27).. K. Árnason (24).. L. Pleidrup (25)

    ................. Jeremiah White (25)... Peter Graulund (30)

    Subs:
    Valencia / Jens Gjesing (63')
Pleidrup / Abdul Razak Salifu (80')
    Lindkvist / Mike Tullberg (84')
    ---

highlights from the match (2 minutes into the clip) :
    Link

5 players got their debut for AGF... Lindkvist, Kim Madsen, Valencia, Lucena and Abdul Razak Salifu, while Budtz, Árnason and White got their Superliga debut...

Lindkvist got a fairly good debut in right back position, he did make a few minor mistakes but also save a Horsens attempt, when they got one-on-one with the keeper.. didnt show much in attack though and ther is room for improvment.

Kim Madsen was a bit of a disappointment in central defense and made a very costly mistake. He seem to be a bit "rusty" after spending a few years in the German 2nd Bundesliga and need to adjust. His partner in central defense, Ole Budtz, in general looked rock solid as usual, though he's rather slow and had some trouble keeping up with the quick Horsens forwards a few times, but he didnt make any real mistakes, so a good debut to him.

Lucena got an excellent debut... He's a very clever playing holding midfielder who not only work very hard all over the pitch but also is excellent at passing the ball and always at the right moment. The only problem is that he keep passing the ball, so he is not much of a threat in attack himself, except perhaps for making assists.

Árnason is also a holding midfielder, but though he works just as hard as Lucena, Árnason does not possess the same excellent passing technique. But unlike Lucena he's a good header and able to score important goals once in a while. In this match he got very close to scoring a goal, but his header was saved by the keeper and the top bar. A good debut to him as well.

Valencia was the big disappointment in right wing position. He made a few very good crosses/passes, but that was just about it, so he was replaced by the young holding midfielder Jens Gjesing, who almost scored a goal a few seconds after he entered the pitch, but his excellent shot was saved by the Horsens keeper. Later in the match he was moved to right back position and did very well.

Jeremiah White looked very quick in 1st division and he also seemed much faster than the Horsens players. Unfortunately he seem to be more of a quick right winger than a forward, so he moved around alot and besides showing some good footwork, long throw-in's and ofcause the assist, then he didnt look too sharp in attack in the first 45 minutes. In the second half he produced 2 very good shots, the first slightly missing the target, while the other was saved by the Horsens keeper. All-in-all he worked very hard and got very promising debut.

Surprisingly man-of-the-match was the very young AGF left back Michael Lumb and then the AGF keeper Steffen Rasmussen also made a few excellent saves. Captain Peter Graulund as usual was sharp and on target, but that is hardly much of a surprise :D

Great report, too bad we didn't get the points. I was surprised that JW played 90 coming off the knee injury.

The problem is that the public service broadcaster DR (Danish version of the English BBC) are giving up on showing Superlige highlights, so I'm affraid that we now are stuck on Viasat (TV3 and TV 2 Sport). Fortunately it's still possible to watch a few highligts for free...

The "highlights" are btw showing all the Horsens opportunities in the match, but have cut some of the big AGF opportunites ... In fact it took Horsens 40 minutes to produce their first attempt...
