If you squish the fish, then LA ain't gonna win. As sad as it sounds. The only thing you have going and the only guy out there to score for the Galaxy is Carlos Ruiz.

If you contain Ruiz the entire match, then the Revs will win the Cup.

I know this because Metro stopped the fish in the five nil victory at Giants Stadium. The day after the USA advanced to the round of 16 in the World Cup.

    Dear Galaxy fans,

That was the Kiss of Death. You're now completely and utterly screwed.

    Sincerely,
Fans of the team that Jeff Bradley's been picking "to win it all" every year since 2000

Jefe, I had the same thought. On the other hand, if we can break the jinx of Jeff Bradley for you, things look good for Burn next year when he (again) picks them to win it all.

ahhh, but we are the evil empire. So the kiss of death is just a kiss.

LA broke the hex in 2002, beat San Jose in SPartan during the regular season (only team). This kiss of death you talk about. No worries.

I'm really glad that so much attention is being paid to the LA Galaxy. "You either hate 'em or love 'em." Guess it could be worse, cheering for one of the other eight teams... and let me emphasize other .

    HMMMM...
Win 1-0 on a PK, in extra time in front of 26,000 people in San Jose. Pretty impressive. How many of those fans were there rooting for LA?

This weekend try winning in front of 50,000 people in New England. Maybe 10,000 will root for LA (if you're lucky!).

You have three extra zero's after the number of people who will be cheering for LA at Gillette.

LA doesn't play well in New England for some reason. The Revs already beat LA in Foxboro this season.

The Rapids beat us in Denver...San Jose beat us in San Jose....

This is the Church of What's Happening Now. The Pagoda of What Happened Back Then is down the road.

About 1000-2000 were cheering for the Galaxy. The crowd was overwhelmingly in favor of the Earthquakes.

Cobi's had, what, 3 playoff goals? And a few more at the end of the regular season?

And I don't think he played in teh game after the World Cup v. the Metros either.

Should be a great game. I actually find myself rooting for the Galaxy, against - believe me, as a San Diegan who hates all LA teams - all odds.

Brunch with the MLS Cup on the West Coast!! :)

If you were really enrolled in "The Church of What's Happening Now", you wouldn't have picked the Galaxy to win 3-0, while mentioning the fact that the Revs had a losing record this season.

    - The Revs are 8-1-3 in their last 12 games.

    - The Revs are 5-0-2 in their last 7 home games.

    - The Revs have outscored their last 7 opponents at home by a combined score of 15-3.

    - The Revs haven't conceded three goals in a game since July 24th, when Juergen Sommer got the start in goal, and New England's starting defense consisted of Jay Heaps, Nick Downing, Leo Cullen, and Joe Franchino.

But the Rev's haven't played the top team in the MLS in those weeks have they?

LA is used to ruining parties (ask Dallas, KC, Colorado) so this little shin dig you Revo's are throwing, it's about to get crashed.

With Los Angeles clocking in at a MISERABLE, PATHETIC, HIDEOUS 10-2. That's 30 points to 27.

Two against Columbus (sub-.500), two against Chicago (sub-.500), one against the Metros (sub-.500 - hell, at that point, sub-.000) - and I forget the other two, but I think I've conveyed the depth of my being-impressed-ness.

Woulda been 15-1, if they didn't fall asleep against the Crew in Game 3. Not a good sign.

Three of whom will start on Sunday. One of whom will be your captain.

If you give up the first goal, you're in for a bloodbath.

Not at all. LA still has plenty of talent.

    Colorado (3-1) and D.C. United (3-0), I believe.
Nor is losing 4-1 to Kansas City on the road.
Sure, Heaps and Franchino will start in defense. But instead of Downing and Cullen in the middle, there's going to be Llamosa and Kante. That's a huge difference. THIS Revolution lineup has yet to give up three goals in a game.

I'm sorry, but LA just hasn't been a great road team this year. I understand that they beat a Quakes team that clearly faltered down the stretch, and they beat Colorado on the road. Good for you. But even given those two good results, the Galaxy still got blown out at Kansas City, and were still only 3-3 in their last six games on the road. They're a decent road team by MLS standards, but even good road teams in MLS are about .500 on the road.

And now you're telling us that the Galaxy are going to fly across the country (Pacific Time Zone teams are 1-7-1 this year against teams in the Eastern Time Zone.) and turn in their most dominating road performance of the season against a team that's playing as well as New England is? Maybe it will happen that way, but I wouldn't bet on it.

It was about this time that the term "data mining" came storming into mind.

So, if the Quakes had won at RFK instead of tying, you'd think the Galaxy would be favorites? Spare me.
