It does not get bigger than Club America. Its the best that he will ever do but we can always sell him to Tigres......good luck with that. ;)

if you want you can measure 'bigness' by popular support (even though i was in Mexico City for the last Chivas/America game, and saw waaaay more red and blue than yello) ...

I couldn't care less about either team, so when i mention 'bigger' i'm talking about a more successful footballing institution --> like Boca, Flamengo, or in Mexico Pachuca

Who was the home team and did you watch the Chelsea vs Club America game, 80% was cheering for club america. America is still a bigger team even by your standards. We have more cups than Pachuca, who just had a good run like we did when we had Lopez, kleber and Temo.

you see more chivas than america everywhere in mexico, including el DF

anywyas, everyone goes through good and bad stretches, but right now I think its fair to say Pachuca as an institution is the most stable in Mexico...

IMO, teams like Toluca and Pumas are more stable than Pachuca. We must not forget that Pachuca lost its coach who was the reason for the good run that they had.

No, I'd say Pachuca is much more stable than Pumas. Toluca has been solid though and has managed to produce great talent in Nestor Calderon and Raul Nava.

In the past 10 years Pachuca has won 5 Mexican titles, 1 copa sudamericana, 3 Concacaf Champions Leagues/Cups, 1 NA Superliga, and a few more friendly trophies. There's no comparisson.

They had a good run but that run is over and the last couple of seasons have shown so.

Pumas is the current champion and they did not made a move the previous season. They also have a better coach than Pachuca.

Despite not winning enough recent titles, Cruz Azul are a consistent play-off competiting team along with Toluca, except that the latter actually wins championships on occasion.

America and Chivas are very irregular for being major clubs, too many highs and lows.

Pachuca, since 2007, has made the liguilla while Pumas missed the liguilla a couple of times. Pachuca has gotten more points than Pumas every time Pumas has qualified. Championships come and go but Pachuca has created its own golden era in this period of time and while the championships haven't returned for this team, it's eminence is retained.

That's the Mexican league for you! Very inconsistent. That's why a guy like Santiago Solari would be just as likely to come to Atlante as he would to Indios.

Hopefully Beausejour finds his rhythm soon. He's a great hustler however his crossing could need a little work. This might be a different case at the national level. This speed demon could erupt at any moment. :D

Cruz Azul finished last on the previous season and they had to get Pachuca's coach.

One half of a season doesn't attribute to the last 10 years. Before this Cruz Azul made it to the previous 2 league finals and one international final, losing all three. If you look at recent history you'll see that they were qualified to the playoffs while teams like America or Chivas weren't.

What's with the rolling eyes, America or Chivas didn't make the last playoffs either, while America have been dead last too.

I'm going to have to agree with erick this time though, Cruz Azul is heading down a slippery slope. They neglected their defensive needs and now they're going to pay for it. Losing to Jaguares is further proof of that.

they've won 2 of the last 3 Concacaf Champions leagues... anyways, when a team gets criticized for going a year without wining a title, sort of proves that they're at the top of their game...

anyways, you need to smarten up, or i'm going to stop being your friend

No, I think they hit rock bottom with that last spell, and can only climb out of that hole. They are qualified to play in an international tournament. The directors hired the services of a serious and proven manager who should correct the mistakes when he was in charge the first time. Cruz Azul can once again strive to quailfy into the playoffs again yet winning the title is a different story.

But yet america has won two titles in the last ten years and cruz azul?

A Jaguares team that does not have Itamar anymore.

I'm not taking away from Pachuca. I'm just saying that they won't have a good season now that the mastermind behind all those cups has left for Cruz Azul.

Re: Jean Beausejour/Ricardo Rojas, America (R) (News, etc...)

    That wasn't the point.

Cruz Azul is a consistent playoff qualifying team despite not winning titles. Which signifies that they have had a strong program in place.

America having won has failed in comparison to the likes of Toluca and Pachuca, both regular playoff qualifying teams as well.

America being a major club, is irregular and should be more stable.

The game was played in the US: unless it had been played in Des Moines or Anchorage, I doubt a bigger English contingent would've been spotted. ;)

Jean played his best game in a long time for America. He was more involved in the movement of the ball and he seem to have a better chemistry with the players. We will have to wait and see if this does not changes when the other two new players are added to the team.

Rojas played an ok game and he almost had a goal chance if somebody had not try to hit the ball with his head and it was to high. Still pissed about the penaltu but shit happens.
