    Finally!

Hopefully he choose to play for Canada, but if not, then at least we don't have to talk about him anymore.

Scroll halfway down this page - look for 'Soccercentral Saturday'. He does indeed say the decision is coming Saturday.

Interesting note: Did you guys know that JDG2 is part of a facebook group called "Jonathan De Guzman for Canada"? Is this a sign? lol

How long until JDG2 gets his citizenship sorted out? If he is no where near becoming Dutch why would he make an announcement. No need to commit to something before all your papers are through. Also the fact that he's announcing on a Canadian show bodes well. Has anyone heard any roumors?

He wouldn't really show up on Canadian TV to turn Canada down, would he? I find that hard to imagine.

That's how I feel, but there is another possibility. It could be a pre-recorded interview, while he'd do a live bit in Holland that day to say he was going to play for them.

Flimsy, sure, but I'm trying to stay pessimistic here, in case he is going with Holland.

To be honest, I think I would be inclined to state the decision on Candian TV first, even if it was for Holland. It allows you to control the initial message and I think shows some courage of conviction. That said, I have been more optimistic that it will be Canada of late than previously...

You don't know the half of it.

But, it's going to fell damn good that day when we hear our national anthem at the World Cup. Better, likely, than if the journey was easy...

a decision seems unlikely to me, why now? what's so urgent?

putting myself in his situation I would....

1st- decide nothing until I get my dutch citizenship so there is the option to play for either country...

2nd- wait and see how Canada does in it's next few matches if they are eliminated there no is need to decide for another 4 yrs....and if Canada can't defeat a minnow without him they're not worth committing to...

3rd- wait and see if there is an invite to train with Oranje and have an honest chat with KNVB as to his chances of being a regular in future years...

What I see on that page is this:
I'm certainly not optimistic enough to think that "answers Gerry's questions" equates to "definitively answers Gerry's questions".

I would not be at all surprised if Jono's answer was something along the lines of "no comment."

As reported in another thread here, I was told by a person at Sportsnet that the original message was "misleading" ans should not have been posted. Although the interview does contain a great deal of talk about his future, he does not commit to either nation.

His Wikipedia page is hilariously badly written, but it does contain this nugget of information:

    Could be bad news...

I am crossing my fingers, but am preparing for the worst. It would be a Godsend to have someone of his international stature finally decide to play for Team Canada.

Since I'm expecting Canada to finish in the top 4 of the final Hexagonal, could the JDG's be the first brothers ever to represent different countries at a World Cup?

doubt there would another brother combination to do so.....of course Canada would have to qualify and I'm not optimistic as we're led by an organization that has no vision, no stated goals and objectives and no plan......

if some by some incredible luck we qualify two brothers in the same WC on with different countries and maybe...battling each other in midfield...
