    Starting lineup for Paraguay:

    Okubo Takahara
    Nakamura Nakata H.
    Endo Fukunishi
    Santos Tsuboi Miyamoto Yamada

The biggest headline is Santos at the LB. Has he ever played in the backline at S-Pulse? Tsuboi has been added to the back line as well.

Shunsuke and Takahara, recently returned from Europe, take their expected spots in the starting lineup. Injuries to Nakayama and Suzuki have "forced" Zico to start Okubo...

    that's a GOOD thing.

    Yeah baby, definitely.

I actually expressed my "lineup" here that sets Alex in the left SB before. One "authorithy" here said it was a ridiculous idea and told me that I knew nothing about football, but now we are about to see the attemp to be made in the game vs Paraguay.

It is experimental, and I believe he's going to suck in defense. But he has speed and relatively strong physique than Hattori. If we(and Shimizu) give him time and oppotunities there, he may become a good SB. And offensively, he is a type of player who needs space to take advantage of his speed. He can't play like Ortega who can beat a few DFs in a tiny space by quick turns and faints. When he was under pressure and given little space like in the previous 2 games, he played like a crap. Well, I think Zico isn't going to use him there throughout the game though.

Takahara and Okubo are 100,000,000 times better than the combo of Nakayama and Suzuki(the best defensive FW duo in Asia!!). Yet, I hope Zico gets rid of Suzuki with Kubo or Yanagisawa.

I'm seeing Tsuboi can be the lift for Japan's defense. But Miyamoto...He may suck big time in there. He needs 2 other CBs in his left and right to make up his luck of speed, height and physique. I don't know about Yamada. He is inconsistent and hasn't played upto his potential for years. Zico may try Morioka in right SB(where he played in his heigh school time and in Shimizu) if Yamada turns out to be no help for the team.

I see a lot of new faces in that line-up. Korea is in a somewhat similar situation. Due to injury of veteran striker Choi YS, current U-22 striker Cho Jae-Jin is expected to start today's game.

I hope Japan scores some goals and wins this game.

Wow. That's a really different lineup. I wonder if Zico decided he didn't have much to lose with a revamped lineup or he planned this all along? I think it's a little bit of both.

Yuke, you say that Alex isn't good under pressure, but at least for attacking, he might be better suited at left back since Nakamura will attract attention on the left flank. He just has to remember to not get caught too far upfield.

But it is good to see Zico took care of the problem spots in the lineup.

Well, I don't know if Zico's intension is to take care of the problems in defense. What Zico said is he wanted to give chances to other backup players before the Confederations Cup because the game vs Paraguay is the last one before the tourney.

Nakayama is a type of player who needs in the bench only and right before the big games(Asian Cup, World Cup) as a mental leader. Suzuki is totally useless, and Zico should have known it. I know he makes his best efforts in every game, but sadly, his talents is far less than some J2 FWs. He should give their spots to better FWs and SBs, especially in place of Hattori.

BTW, Kyoto sucked Engels(Spelling??). Another b*llshit act by the club management.

I agree with Engels that Kyoto would regain the good form after injured DF Teshima and FW Kurobe are back. The problem that Kyoto doesn't have good backups in the bench is ultimately the responsibility of the club management for failing to acquire good backups after the last outstanding season(they just spent most money on Koo JS). Yet, the club usually just sucks a coach/players, and they, a bunch of amature/incompetent administrators from the owner corporation, don't take god d@mn responsibility. A typical "salaryman" behavior.

Kyoto has good youth teams and Engels is good at raising them. Kyoto's football last season was very entertaining too. The club is making a big mistake(and will repeat the same mistake in the future for sure)

Alex can't defend. Yeah he has good work rate, but he's not exactly a very good tackler.

    Liar.

Unless my eyes deceive me, that isnt even a 4-4-2, much less does it have Alex at left wing back.

But then again, since when were you ever interested in facts?
Keep making up stories about yourself. Im sure it will impress all your friends!

    0-0 FT

Would have liked a win, but it definitely was better than the Arg. game. I also would have liked Zico to try out either Ishikawa or Matsui, but then again, that would mean taking out either Nakamura or Nakata. Both seemed to have had decent games, Shunsuke in particular. Also, good job to the makeshift DF.

I also read the Okubo goal called offside at 76' was a close call. Did anyone see if if it was a good call? Or was he robbed?

zico subbed only the injured fukunishi. does he know this was the last match before the confed cup? probably he got too excited to even think about it. okubo & takahara 2 top was much better than nakayama and suzuki. i thought alex at the left back was good after all. he looked a bit shaky at the beginning but provided good offense later and also saved one goal. koji nakata looked bad again.

    Liar? Me??? Making up stories????????
Now swallow your own words and kiss my @ss, dickhe@d.

I've already described my idea of using Alex as a SB last September. And that lineup with Alex in SB was the case if Japan/Zico sticks to 4 backs as I've mentioned in the post. And you actually read my words because you wrote me back on it. If you wanna confrim you've lied again, check this out.

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10863

And it's so funny that you were nice first and I actually gave you some respect in the thread, and then later in the thread you turned arrogant to me and others, just like now.

Hey, listen. Well we all know you are the liar, and your previous post just proved it again. You lied and twisted facts in other thread just a week ago.

I'm(and I assume others) sick and tired of you and repeating this. I really recommnds you to go see a doctor. I think you are suffering from a personality disorder or a cerebral thrombosis(or could be both).

I think you should do the same

If you really were referring to some post you made last september, then which "authority" told you it was a ridiculous idea? It sure wasnt me. I have actually suggested Alex as a side back myself, but only if supported by good defenders all around him and in a 4-4-2

It is clear from your post what you were talking about. NOW who is putting words into whose mouth? Claiming that I said Alex at side back was ridiculous? Bullshit! When did I ever say that?

Hey, if you think that people can read your BS and take you seriously, fine. Keep kidding yourself.

At the end of the day its obvious that you dont know squat about Japanese football, and it drives you insanely jealous that someone else might know more than you.

    Pathetic.

By the way, before you start getting all self-righteous again, let me make one other comment

That isnt the way I read the exchange. I dont go out of my way to offend people, and thats why you might say "you were nice at first". Most people ARE nice, basically. they only get ticked off for a particular reason.

In this case, as in the other thread recently, I expressed my own opinions about certain players. OK, I can accept that sometimes I say my opinions in a way that makes it sound like: "this is the fact". I dont mean it that way, but I am honest enough with myself to admit that sometimes I sound that way.

Nevertheless, Ive always said, and Ive said many times both to you and to other people, the things I post on this board are just my opinion, and I should have a right to an opinion just like anyone else. Your responding to my message as if my posts are "the word of God" or something like that. This makes you just as guilty of creating the misunderstanding, when you respond by saying "how dare you talk to me like that". Why cant you just accept that Im offering an opinion different from yours?

Now, please imagine that you are a human being (I know it may be difficult but . . . (^c,^) ), and tell me how would you respond to someone who said that to you???

Think about it, and decide for yourself whose comments are out of line. . .

Extremely marginal call. You might be able to claim that it was a centimeter offside, but its not the sort of situation where a linesman should be disallowing a goal, especially AT HOME. If someone made a call like that against Italy or Argentina, they wouldnt make it out of the stadium alive.

I think Japanese fans need to be meaner, in order to intimidate referees a bit more. Maybe we can recruit some Hanshin Tigers fans . . .

Japan seems to have a nack of getting robbed of goals on bogus offsides calls, must be cuz the refs think Japanese are all orderly and respect authority.

Time to start crackin' heads and strike some fear into the refs' hearts.

    :)
