Paraguay are playing tight from front to back. From the way they are passing, it looks like they are playing to do one of two things: 1 - Spring the attacker or; 2 - Slowly build into the box.
I do not think we are actually missing much speed but we do seem to be playing with fear of making mistakes so we are slow to go forward. But we do go pretty fast when retreating.
I'm not sure if it is that or if it is that they just aren't used to playing together. Even Rodman has played with the NT only once in the past, what, year?
Occasional offside is to be expected but almost every time there is an offside the player lost concentration. I do kind of think that offside is as big a negative every much as serious as not marking players near the goal on a corner.
For a friendly this referee is horrible. She seems to be calling things like it is a competitive CONCACAF match.
Half United States of America 1 Paraguay 0 They're definitely playing like they are ready for preseason. Rodman should have multiple assists. Moultrie finally got an assist to Turner.
1-0 at the half. I am disappointed as we seem to not really want to score but rather all we are trying to do is not make mistakes. If this continues we could lose 1-2 on a fluke goals of some kind.
doesn’t need to be that much of a fluke - their striker is good. But it will be hard for Paraguay to build any extended attack unless we back off.
Halftime thoughts: Serious lack of inventiveness with the team despite the goal Rodman looking a bit frustrated. Nice assist from Moultrie, but as somebody with experience, I think she needs to do more. Hutton looking the best player on the pitch. Wesley looking nice and composed at the back. Her and Rudd seem to be working well. Finally Turner got her goal. It was coming... I think Hayes said she would have subs at half (pre-planned?) so will be interested to see who comes on.
If they do score, it will be a combination of a fluke and a total breakdown in concentration. They just can't get the ball much though midfield, and Martinez has a couple of good touches, but with the experience of Rudd on her, beyond the first two touches, not much else is happening.
Does anybody else's feed break up every time something exciting happens. I am watching TNT through Sling and the feed is rock stable except for brief times when something exciting happens. It is almost like one of the cables or pieces of equipment is reacting badly to increased noise levels or vibration that happens from excitement.
I wonder where, in the chain, Sling and Xfinity pick up their feeds. It is quite noticeable, for me every time the crowd get loud.
