I don't know if this is of any much interest to y'all but Sky's Transfer Deadline Show is streaming on NBC Peacock now. (NBC's own deadline day TV show appears to be a thing of the past)
Apparently he’s never won the Prem league title so that is an added incentive for him as well TalkSport saying that his current stats are well above Partey’s .. and some of the best in Europe .. he was also apparently 3rd in the Balon D’or a couple of years ago and he’s not gotten any slower sooooooo
For all my kvetching about Jorginho, I do rate the Trossard deal and I appreciate the team not being completely idle this window. I'll cheer on whoever wears the jersey.
I think of Jorginho less like a Partey cover and more like another Zinchenko—so if we have to put those two next to each other, I hope they can mostly figure it out defensively. It’s a fine deal for what it is, hopefully a short-term contract too. TUNNEL VISION CANCELED
Seems a pretty quiet final day all things considered. Other than Jorginho (yes), Caicedo (no), Fernandez (probably), Sabitzer loan (maybe)... is there anything else of real note today... to the league as a whole? p.s. Cedric to Fulham on loan is still possibly on I just heard.
It says a lot about the state of the transfer market that a Portuguese record sale on deadline day registers as part of a "pretty quiet day." £115 million would have been earth-shattering a decade ago.
Teams can only have two players on loan from other Premier League clubs, Fulham has Dan James from Leeds and Shane Duffy from Brighton. They need to either terminate a loan or sign someone permanently.
Arsenal have spent 170m euro net this season according to transfermarkt - that is huge compared to their revenue Yet Chelsea have now spent over 600m euros ???
Well yes, but I was using the phrase "pretty quiet" more in terms of the quantity of deals TODAY, and not any particular price paid. Prices in the EPL in general are absurd, for example Chelsea paying 11M for Felix and receiving 12M for Jorginho, both for only 6 mos! Edit: oops, Felix is 6mos but Jorginho is 18mos. Thanks Jitty.
🚨 Fulham set to finalise signing of Cedric Soares from Arsenal on straight loan until end of season. It requires one of #FFC’s existing PL loans to be turned permanent. That is likely to be Shane Duffy from Brighton @TheAthleticFC #AFC #BHAFC #DeadlineDay https://t.co/Ye5ukogxat— David Ornstein (@David_Ornstein) January 31, 2023
That’s the equivalent of what ManU pays for Roy Keane all those years ago - allowing for inflation apparently
Oh yeah, I forgot that. So, does 12M for 18mos make him better value?? (and I'm not talking about just long division) p.s. Don't call him Willy2.0... show more optimism! Like you did yesterday IIRC
Money is fake bro, get with the times. Plus Arsenal has all the NFTs they sold to fans to fall back on
One of the Sky boys just mentioned this piece that Amy Lawrence wrote after we lost out on Mudryk (apologies if this was already posted back then): https://theathletic.com/4099969/2023/01/18/arsenal-chelsea-mudryk-transfer/ I haven't read the whole thing but the gist is that we've done pretty well when our first choice falls through. We've ended up with Trossard, Jesus, Zinchenko, White & Ramsdale in that manner. We can only hope that Jorginho turns out to also fall into that category!
