Well....the Genesis' competition wasn't the NES, it was the Super NES. The Master System was Sega's 3rd-gen (8-bit) competitor to the NES. Just like the Dreamcast wasn't Sega's 5th-gen competitor to the PSX; that's the Saturn. The Dreamcast's competition was the PS2, arguably the most successful console of all time.
That's completely fair. I took a break for some reason after my 8-bit got stolen in 1989 or 90 and skipped over that SNES period. I'd completely forgotten about that one. By the time I returned to the hobby, the N64 was out. I got a PSX in 2000 and the Dreamcast in 2001 right before I got the PS2, which is still my main platform and the original console (3rd controller). I had the DC about six hours before I realized that that one great-looking NFL game (that still wasn't Madden) wasn't worth the price of a console, and returned it.
Dreamcast gave us gems like Shenmue, Jet Grind Radio, and Skies of Arcadia. SEGA still makes kick ass games, including the awesome Yakuza series (Which inspired my username).
I haven't heard of any of these games, but I'm sure they're great. I can imagine a Yakuza game is cool. I tend to favor sports games, tho, and Sega didn't have the EA franchises. A console can attract me without FIFA, because PES was the better game for so long. But it has to have Madden and NCAA (been so long since the courts ruled in favor of the labor that I don't know if the game developers still make a college football game).

In The Atlantic piece which is an exerpt from a forthcoming biography of Romney that @superdave recommended elsewhere, many of the GOP senators voted not to impeach because they were afraid the crazies would come after them and their families, or at least that is the story floated to give them cover. Here’s what I don’t get. Let’s assume for argument’s sake that Rudy wasn’t senile at the time. Why would a man who looks like Rudy think that a woman who looks like Hutchinson would be attracted to him? It’s like Weinstein…he’s one ugly ************************. How could he possibly think those beautiful actresses wanted one night stands with him? So if he had an ounce, shit, a milligram of self awareness, he would know he was raping those women through career coercion. Same with Rudy. Just in terms of psychology, what is going on with these men? I guess it’s a form of sociopathy, in that they see those women as NPCs, sort of like how Trump sees everyone except Ivanka.

My take is that our culture is only beginning to reckon with the normalization of older men sexualizing girls and extremely young women. This has been a wink-and-nudge part of American popular culture going back decades. There are generations of American white men who grew up seeing films like "The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer" and myriad others where the basic premise is that girls and extremely young women just can't help falling in love with/forcing themselves onto older men. And of course, in a patriarchal culture many women will internalize those beliefs and seek to sync their desires and emotions with the powerful pressures and incentives pushing them to play their role in this unequal power dynamic; and so many young women and girls will "consent" to inappropriate and exploitive relationships, which makes it all the easier for men to not see how subtly coercive their behavior is.
