Is this the thread where we talk about how Graham lied to the Supreme Court to get his stay, or how Andor being "the best" in years is a real low bar to jump and they knocked that bar off when no one watched the show anyways? Not that I think Lindsey fibbing to Thomas changed the outcome one lick.
I walk past her house frequently. I thought things had calmed down since the Code Pink demonstrators used to camp out in front of it.
I knew it was somewhere in that general area but never the exact block. It’s not exactly hidden away, I’m kinda surprised they haven’t had problems like this sooner given how the crazies feel about her.
I dunno as one should put any pianist ahead of Oscar for sheer playing; compositionally, maybe Monk, Brubeck, Ibrahim... Neil's volume of output is so absurdly high that the diamonds are kinda balanced and more by the great masses of dross. Joni's one of those that you can't hardly name a best album without talking about four or five others that might be...
To get us back on topic, a mentally ill proto-fascist launched a half baked assassination attempt on Nancy Pelosi. Political violence is like a germ. A healthy body deals with an outbreak easily. We are dealing with it very, very poorly.
Much the same way as the lane brain who drove across a couple of states to shoot up the pizza parlour basement. They watch fox and listened to their local GQP member.
Not terms I'd ever associate with Joni; can you suggest any tracks that sound that way to you, cause I just don't get this? Her voice is thin but precise-- picks out notes with a needle as compared to, say, Ronstadt who hits them with a paint roller. But both of them have solid solid intonation which does not screech. You sure you're not thinking of Amy Winehouse? She could lay a good screech on ya; or maybe Janis Joplin?
I think I know what he might be taking about, her voice has a particular high pitched quality that I know turns some people off, and her stylizing on a word or syllable can come off like yodeling (though I think of it more along the lines of improvising like a jazz musician). I’d call her an acquired taste, which I feel fortunate that I’ve acquired at this point.
Well, her voice was kinda high-- bandmates called her "the Chirp"-- but that was God's work not her personality. Her personality, in fact, turned it husky and smoky with cigarettes and alcohol. And she will modulate within a vocal phrase ("Rainy Night House",) but that is very different from yodeling or screeching.
Bone Tomahawk is the best western I have seen in the modern era. It stayed with me and Kurt Russell was great. As a series Hell on Wheels was great.
I have already seen wingnuts call it a false flag because obviously one does not simply walk into M̶o̶r̶d̶o̶r̶ Paul & Nancy's home.
The mining camp sequence of Ride the High Country clearly influenced McCabe and Mrs. Miller. Which in turn influenced Deadwood. Which happens to be my favorite show of all time.
Can we put all music, westerns and religion into another thread. Call it the cutting the room and it just be a hodgepodge of posts cut from elsewhere.
Each of those tooics deserves its own thread. Except religion. That's played such a big role in where we are now that it deserves to remain part of the general threads about Trumpism and conservatism and centrism.
This. As has been noted by several, it was both in the Capitol Building and is part of their ideology of Which Christian Supremacy.
The church has been wreaking havoc on women for centuries, most recently with its views on women's reproductuve control. I can't say for sure, but I'd be willing to bet that the first organized (legislated) attempts to keep. a thumb on top of women began in a church. It's why they had to find someone to perform abortions in private and under dangerous conditions, when they really should be more like a trip to the ER.
