so he's missing the game because of a doctor's appointment? dude's just finding new ways to miss games.

🚨 El próximo 21 de mayo se estrenará en @netflix una serie documental de 3 capítulos sobre la vida y obra de James Rodríguez en el fútbol. Locura. pic.twitter.com/xM0HS1wefr— Colombia Xtra 🇨🇴 (@Colombia_Xtra) May 8, 2026
oh man.. kinda confirms that him going to the WC is a lot about the commercial side of it.. they make docs about anyone now
In 2014, James Rodríguez took the world by storm — scoring the only goal in World Cup history to win the FIFA Puskás Award and becoming the face of a generation of Colombian football. The rise that followed would take him to Real Madrid and FC Bayern Munich — but behind the glory… pic.twitter.com/6fvEdpammv— Netflix Sports (@netflixsports) May 8, 2026
exactly what I expected retires post world cup. 🗣️ "James le dijo al Minnesota que podría retirarse después del Mundial", #EsUnHecho de #ASColombia pic.twitter.com/nbRVxuYOCF— AS Colombia 🇨🇴 (@AS_Colombia) May 9, 2026
But he also has to pace himself. If he gives his all in the Azteca he may collapse and be sent to a hospital for the rest of the tournament.
Feel this dude will end like the wrestler he going to give us the World Cup but his heart will explode when he scores the winner and most of you still go Macnelly, pibe or Quintero would have done it better
Latest update on James Rodríguez from @MicheleG3 on MLS Countdown.James will play his final game for #MNUFC on Wednesday vs. Colorado Rapids before departing to join the Colombian national team.He will not return to Minnesota after that. pic.twitter.com/43wz5lruEL— MNUFC NEWS (@mnufcnews) May 9, 2026 Well that was fun
It is a shame that this is how his career will end. Even wirh the world cup. James had potential like no other player in recent memory when it came to influencing the game itself for Colombia. I hope that the future generations will be moviated.
His body gave out dude is 35. Zuniga and armero like died after 2014… never to heard of again. same with Jackson who were much younger if we hadnt made it to the WC he would have retired a while ago
Problem is he wasted his peak years on the bench at Madrid and then constantly fumbled since then, so the failure compounded and because we saw what he could still do with us it was clear this guy wasted club football and clearly that effects how good he could have been all round.
looking forward to not having to read the same shit about this guy every season anymore. have to deal with this world cup and hopefully that'll be the end. He's an embarrassment
Yea - it was wild how James and his people around him botched his club career. To me, Bayern was the best solution and it was frustrating to me that he didn’t view Bayern that way. After he left Germany, we just knew he was never going to get things on track club wise. It will be interesting to see how the documentary portrays him. what bugs me is all the unnecessary hate against him on social media. To me, the biggest criticism should go to Nestor who in my eyes, gets an F for his stubbornness to build a team of 26 starters over 6 friendlies since the WCQ process ended. Sure, there was probably some pressure to feature James bc of deals with promoters (I still don’t know if that’s true) but he didn’t need to play the primary team for nearly 80 minutes against teams like Canada and Australia… criticizing James is quite silly at this point bc we all here pretty much saw this coming for over a year, maybe 2…the problem has been with Nestor who has failed to adjust tactics and lineup management with other strong players available
