I mean that's a Lorenzo problem not a James or Yaser. There is room and I'd argue a need for both, if anything Yaser should be taking Carrascal's minutes, and they could both play. Either way Yaser is too good and too well rounded to not get a roll and some minutes, because as good as James has been we need to plan for the likely scenario where he's injured.

I will respect you and CrzD's opinion of wanting to see Carrascal be the one cut/ less playing time.
Lorenzo though seems to trust him a lot this cycle and has either started him or brought him in as our key attacker off the bench in almost every match.

Based on that it may come down to JuanFer or Yaser.
Or maybe even Sini or Yaser if he plays him out wide.

And James unless he is injured will be on the roster for sure.

He played well in the Asian friendlies Korea/ Japan.
He had a decent pass out wide to Arias who crossed the ball to Santos Borre for the game winner against Venezuela.

He had his moments against Brazil making their keeper Alison have to work a bit with shots on target.

He has his moments but he is inconsistent, similar to the way he was at River Plate.

I think he did good against Mexico too but that's not saying much

The way that Lorenzo wants to play and the way we look so good with James I don't think Carrascal is just that type of player, its unfair to compare him to a classic 10 really which James/Juanfer/Yaser all seem to naturally be. I haven't seen as much of Yaser but he definitely seemed to be the type to always want the ball, and always coming to get it and create something from even deep and having the ability to completely dictate the play and tempo for the team.

Carrascal just won't be able to give us that and make the team tick, which isn't really his fault that he's a bit different, but if we are using a style that need the midfielders who are constantly on the ball and offering short and long passes we got 2 masters and a good under study.

I'd also argue that the Arias is the second best in that roll and the best defensively, but we are already penciling him in and wide, and Yaser is probably the best like for like to play on the right and do what Arias does, who basically played as a CM/10 for us at times and combined really well with James.

Well said. Arias work rate and Castaño landing are critical to James being effective given his fitness.

I want Yaser to start getting minutes though.

If not, we probably wont see him play for a long time.
Maybe October if we are fortunate.

He just physically looks in much better shape. Irrespective of playing time the training with Sao Paulo seems to have been most consistent he has had in years.

Physically looks like the guy we used to know.

The manager at Sao Paulo has expressed concerned that every time he comes back from FIFA matches his health is usually not optimal and he has to recuperate.
Let's see if the same applies this time around or if he will be ready to play their next match.

he has all the Instagram hoes willing to blow him…. And like 30 million in the bank….. not sure how your going to motivate him more than that

dude seems like he just wants to be a dad and chill with his baby. He just holding out because he wants to go to the WC. Think he could take all 2025 off and the 2nd season in Brazil this year off and still make the roster come 2026…..

just don’t see enough guys popping up that will be better than him and not shit their pants when they put on our uniform

Well the thing is that he needs a good moviational speech. It would affect his ego in a good way but remind him as to why he would need to keep at it for his last run.

You guys really think it's motivation? His leg is shot. A guy with an ego like that doesn't just stop running, he just can't play sustainably. (IMHO)

We really need Yaser to take the next step now and be ready.

Yeah I think it's pretty clear he has an ongoing injury that doesn't allow him to go a full season and train normally. It probably wouldn't be such an issue if he wasn't an idiot about handling these things and opening his mouth constantly off field. Just another example of his Jekyll and Hyde personality disorder of on field/off field.
