As I have posted in the National Team thread there's only a certain amount of slots and a certain amount of players that can be on a roster heading into June.
Most recently when James was not starting for Colombia it was Cuadrado who was on the field against Germany and Venezuela instead of him.

So when pertaining to the conversation of midfield options if we DID NOT have James on the roster I mentioned JuanFEr and Carrascal and Yaser. Then after a little thought I mentioned Cuadrado was logically next in line in my mind even though they both have uncertainties.

Hopefully his state of being constantly stays positive as he is playing in Utah in February.

If he thought Germany was horrible...

James shut me up during last WCQ matches. But I think it's a HUGE mistake to rely on him and as I (and pretty much all expected), he's injury prone and has a massive ego even as a 30 something professional. Lastly, I'll say if we can't experiment during Copa by bringing in the next generation of what will be our team in WC 26 then we're falling back to making the same mistakes we've made in the past.
There's a part of me that thinks James had something to prove to almost everyone in his last WCQ matches but once he's "in" he's going to be back to some of his old habits. That calf issue isn't going to resolve itself by just traveling and doing promotions.

It is a difficult situation for Lorenzo.

He has been quite clear with the media when it comes to his goals. He has mentioned multiple times that his main objective is to win the Copa America. Not do well in the Copa America. Not adcance in the Copa America. Not make it to the Final...
    ...To win it all.

If he thinks we cannot do that without James then James is going to be the centerpiece of our midfield.

He is not going to look ahead at the World Cup or the future. He seems to be focused on the here and now.

He is saying he’d rather allow Homie to keep hating on James than have you make such ridiculous claims to defend James

I hate this guy but probably stuck with him a little longer.

At the rate he's going, will he make the next world cup?

it's simple to get through, separate everything about James and especially whatever is between his ears from the guy who steps on the field in yellow. His resume is pretty strong, and even if he's had his issues at club, for us overall he's earned a good amount of respect especially for how he's done under Lorenzo.

As much as I'm annoyed by his antics, there hasn't been many who've had a better career for us ever and we've had a pretty shitty midfield/support for him to play with for about 7 years out of the last 10.

He has had a remarkable career and his body betrayed him. If he is guilty of ego, it's been his unwillingness to retire.

I can't see how his performance in yellow can be questioned - he's been brilliant for the NT in huge stages even recently when he prob shouldn't have even been in the pitch and when he's miles slower than he was in his youth. (Of course, if the mutiny story is true that would be the big question mark but I've always struggled to reconcile the allegations with what we know about James with his pride and competitive nature throwing a game)

But he has a chronic injury and simply can't be relied on.

If by "interesting" you mean stupid and detrimental to the team.

At this point he may have to do something drastic like pull a JuanFer and just train with Ateltico Nacional or something just to stay fit until March.
