So where do you think he'll go in the summer? I seriously doubt that James will stay at this club since Colombia isn't going to Qatar.
Also I realize you guys are probably not big followers of Qatar football, but things did not go well for Al Rayyan either, almost relegated from the QSL and winding up trophyless another season....
He'll go on vacation which will be his priority, then he'll likely come back out of shape and agitate for a transfer in typical James poor career planning mode. Where he goes I can't imagine, but hopefully he gets one more high level stop before he hits MLS.
And in other news…water is wet I guess the saying is really true “You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.”
🚨 EXCL. James Rodríguez (30) will no longer play in #AlRayyan. Colombian has already communicated his desire to leave and Jorge Mendes is working on it👀 His wish is to return to Europe, with a salary reduction. Honestly I hope he goes to some place like Argentina...it's a solid league... Then again, I am still praying for NYCFC to snatch him up.
Argentina would be the ideal. He'd do well there, and the fans love the type of player he is enough that they won't turn on him when he inevitably gets injured or doesn't run the pitch. But he won't take that big a pay cut...
wait what? Argentina ideal? James spring 2019 was probably the last best bit of competitive glory. MLS will pay him far more and expect far less.
Yeah there's no way I can see him in Argentina, the pay is too low and not enough high profile in terms of sponsorships either which adds a lot to the bottom line. Maybe he still has something to prove after the calamity of the last few years, but as we've all seen coming for a long while he's going to really start to realize how bad he's messed up his career as he hits his twilight years. The window is small and he wasted a ton of time where he should have been playing for one reason or the other (mainly Madrid for peak years).
Rumor has it Inter Miami are looking to sign James... to be honest, I could kind of see this happening... I live in Qatar but was in Miami last summer and I sure know where I'd rather be.... https://en.as.com/soccer/inter-miam...odriguez-during-the-summer-transfer-window-n/
