Love it when he's at his best. I'll give Ancelotti the cake on this one. He's got incredible patience and knows how to squeeze every drop out of James. Doucoure is also gold. What a freaking MF. When Alan gets back into form and the team gets even deeper in the bench they may just finish top 7.

I think they miss a true 5 against top competition but Allan is tidy and Doucoure has a heck of an engine.

With the side returning to health I hope we see their best on Monday.

Good win for Everton even if just one goal involved.

And James rested for West Bron is beneficial.

Another 0-1 win for Everton with a game at hand. However West Ham also have a game at hand and if they beat Leeds United they'll take back that 4th place from Everton.

As long as Everton keeps getting results they are fine with WH. They are ahead in the table with same games played.

It's interesting how this season has played out, feels like they have a strategy of resting James when fixtures get busy so he can play in big ties like the derby or against United and Leicester. Meanwhile, they are taking care of business against the sides that should be gimmes.

Considering their roster it's been effective, if they win their game in hand, they would be even on wins with Yunai with a roster much less deep. If James relishes the Springtime and Allan, DCL and Richy stay healthy could pull this off.

Everton are running by far the hottest of any teams in the EPL. Their expected points is mid table but they've gotten a great run of bounces going their way this season while also having a big injury list of important players. If they can get James healthy and keep the others healthy they have a good outside shot to make the top 4 with a little more luck, but the numbers back up the eye test that they've gotten really lucky (mainly in the games that James hasn't played).

I find that they're getting very lucky in matches James plays too.

It's weird. They never dominate any match. But they also never get dominated when they lose. The brief opening of the season and the loss against Fulham are the only aberations I can think of.

    Everton, that.
    (I get the motto, now)

Yeah they are converting chances at a crazy rate, James goals for example are all wonder goals that are rare to go in (but James has always converted chances at a mega elite level). They did get dominated by Fulham fully, but situationally they just end up scoring first in a lot of games which then allows them to not have to attack and counter which they are comfortable doing, take away some of those early goals and the dominos fall the other way more often.

They are well coached and it helps to have big CBs (and lots of them) in those tight games.

Mina has been sidelined too. Don't he's played in 2 or 3 weeks even.

No James again today. Mina didnt play either. Everton with a bad home loss vs Burnley. 2 losses in a row. Now have Man City in FA cup next weekend.

Ancelotti said he might be out until after the international break.

And I just read that Doucoure might be out for the remainder of the season.

I think they just lost their grip on a European spot...

    100th European goal for James

But another tough result for Everton allowing a late tying goal. Gonna need a nice end of season run to qualify for a European tournament spot.

Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin were horrific today. Each one of them had at least 3 clear chances and they missed them, badly. This should have been an easy win for Everton with 2 or 3 of those missed opportunities. Guaita was partly to blame, but the way Everton's two forwards failed was beyond words.

What I really like is that he nailed this with his right foot. Very satisfying to see that weaker foot being used properly but Jesus that was a pathetic way to give up a win...

That was the second uber wondergoal James has scored with his right foot this season.

It's not a weak foot by any means, he just over favors his left for whatever reason...
