I see a lot of posts about the ref helping us in the game. HELLO! First off, Marrufo called a horrible game for both teams. Second, McCarty should have been sent off. If not for the Howard pull down then for the Wolyniec tackle. Third, as much as I agree Cunningham was tripped up inside the box, what about the blatant handball in the Crew box that wasn't called? Eye for an eye. Fourth, the Crew got away with as many tackles in the first half as we did in the second. Fifth, had Jair Marrufo given a couple yellows in the beginning of the game, things may have been much different. Sixth, Martino clobbers DiGi (RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE REF) and then Lisi makes a tackle and sees yellow on what appeared to be less violent to me than Martino's tackle. But overall, Jair should go back to the High School level and try to call a good game there and then maybe move to the USL. So Crew fans, don't blame the ref for this game, he screwed us over too.
Not if you take into consideration the play where Eddie Pope grabbed Cunningham's jersey on the back-pass. That was a definite foul that occurred in the penalty area. Agreed that the ref was horrendous for both teams, but they got the worst of the calls (or perhaps non-calls). I'm sure there will be a future match where the officiating (hopefully not this guy) will be suspect and the Metros will be the one's who get the raw deal.
