From reports, I reckon he is the 2003 version of the 1994 Earnie Stewart...albeit with a bit more power...strong workrate, very fast, can get into scoring positions, but not the strongest finisher....very Earnie...

Given right midfield is a bit up for grabs: (Klein? Olsen? slide back Donavon? Maybe Martino in future?)...I'd give this guy a look over next year (friendly or 2)...he may be a decent convert (good "makeup" for that spot)....

Problem being, his team may get relegated, but he apparently is at least D2 German quality (olafgb believes he could make D1 under right circumstances), and with high work rate and speed, could be a decent bookend to Beasley....appears to at least as skilled as Klein, who's gotten lots of shots over last year...(and is a tick slow for higher competition)

I'd think 2003- early 2004 (outside Cups) is about seeing what you've got, and letting talented young players know that YOU KNOW they are around (if they are "there" already)....I think he should get a camp or cap...

I think to get in the Nats picture he will need to find a stronger side (in promotion competition in BL2) and remain a steady contributer. I just think hes still under the radar at this point.

Normally I would completely agree that a Right mid who is in the BL2 and on a team to be relegated is probably "under the radar". That being said, this position is one of our weakest positions on the field. We do not have depth here, especially young depth.

So, I think a meaningless friendly to give the kid a look see is probably appropriate. Thorrington is one division lower in England (I believe) and is also on a team to be relegated. So he is out until he returns to MLS.

I just think the timing is bad this year. This summer we have GC and Confed Cup. Not too many meaningless friendlies.

Next year hopefully he can be brought in during a meaningless friendly, assuming he keeps his form.

Thorrington got a look/cap a year and a half or so ago...same logic applies here, I reckon..

Duahney for the Nats. Now. Everyone in BL2 with an American passport should be called in.

Thorrington was capped along with Joe Enochs in that friendly against Ecuador in 2001. Remember that was the camp where Mathis tore his ACL and began his somewhat downward spiral.

Well considering hes not a right mid by trade, but a striker, I think the argument of weak right mid is a bit shakey. I think players need to be blips on the radar before you start considering moving them around to a need position.
