I've seen a few articles about him in the various Japanese news sites. How good is he? He was just added to U-22 and rumor has it he may be at Urawa Reds next year. http://www.sanspo.com/soccer/top/st200312/st2003121202.html
Marcus Lyuji Tulio Tanaka He is a Brazilian Japanese who got Japanese citizenship last month. He really sucked when he played for Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 2001-2002, but he was pretty young so that may be a partial excuse. He is tall and fairly fast, but his skill isnt the greatest. I cant see what the Reds would want with him, unless it is a way to get rid of one foreigner spot in the back line and use it to hire another foreigner to provide midfield support. He may make the U-22 team but I doubt he can win a starting spot. He still doesnt have the skill level needed to match people like Moniwa, Aoki, Kakuda and Kaji. It seems to me like its just the sort of hype you often get from the Japanese sports press when someone naturalises (remember Wagner Lopes? Too bad. Ive been doing my best to forget.)
