If you'd have the chance to throw an incendiary dart to a J-League mascot, and so see it run around the pitch on fire (with a lot of Japanese around panicking), which one would you aim at?

Jubilokun, obviously. ;) Jubilokun and his tarty mistress Jubichan.

On flip side, Grampuskun is genius. Whoever designed it deserves a medal.

But Grampuskun, being so fat, would burn perfectly, no?

    I have a particular dislike for Gamba-Boy...

    Just one? :(

I am firmly in the Michael Wilbon camp on this. No mascots — NONE — at games. You want to put them outside the stadium or us them as a PR ploy outside of Game Day? Be my guest. Once the game starts, though, you're there to watch and enjoy the game, not have some underpaid intern in a costume bounce around and distract people in the name of "atmosphere."

Death to mascots — death, death, death!

What! Gamba-boy is so energetic and symbolic!! :D

But on a serious note, I happen to know the guy who designed the gamba-boy. His daughter and I went to same elementary and junior high. It's kinda cool knowing the designer himself, but I don't think he's a Gamba fan. :(

Don't be greedy: most of us want to terminate them: learn to share, c'mon.... :D

Listen, one of the things that make the Golden Pavillion in Kyoto famous, is the fact that it was set in fire (have you read Mishima's book).

Once I burn Gamba Boy to ashes, your friend will become even more popular. Or perhaps they will ask him to design a Gamba Boy 2.0.... I mean it is a win-win for him...

He already made a TON of money for designing the gamba-boy, the family lives in a castle-like mansion.

    Not the gamba boy! :O

    Hey, stop whining about Gamba-Boy!
I have made my mind about him.
    He is a goner...

You might instead plot revenge against Pa-san and his phoenix female friend. I mean this is a thread about the destruction of the mascots, not their preservation...

    C'mon, be MEAN!! :D

i like the gamba boy, but i'd target him too, seeing he's the odd one out while other mascots are animals:D

I'd have to go with the Tokyo Verdy's.. I don't even know its nickname? If I could pick two, the second one will be the Ehime's Oranges. They milk the ポンジュースtheme way too much.

Come to think of it, do all the teams have a mascot? I've never seen a FC Tokyo one?

    Re: Burn a J-League Mascot

I don't think they have one. Fair play to them, but I'm quite happy to have mascots bounding around on the pitch before the game and suchlike. Palchan always hangs out at the entrance to the S-Pa home end to greet those who lined up early and does a choreographed show before game. The little kiddies love it, so I'd feel a right meanie depriving them of him!

なんとなく俺もガンバボーイ嫌い!Gamba Boy's just kinda lame. I know most of them are, but what's with those teeth!?

Gamba Boy without a doubt. While he is on the ground burning in pain, I would kick him.

    Re: Burn a J-League Mascot

My idea was: a crossbow loaded with a huge syringe filled with highly inflammable liquid, attached to a big fire-cracker.

Light the firecracker, shoot the syringe into Gamba boy, firecracker explodes, liquid is all over Gamba Boy and starts burning.

If it works, we can then proceed with all others.

Let me know if you have any suggestion to improve my plan.

I know, I know... it might sound cruel...
But getting rid of the J-mascots it is a great service to humanity.

Somebody has to take care of it...
